    Receiver design is terrible

    My tow hitch is retained in the reciever with a grade 8 5/8" bolt and lock nut. I've seen the locking pins fail a few times.

    I'm towing a Keystone 5th wheel with my 2016 Ram 1500. Payload is 1820, pin weight is 1450. I added 1000# air bags that go inside the coil springs. Pulls and rides great. Been to Alaska and back and all over the western states.

    I'm towing a 9,000# 5th wheel with a 2016 1500 with 5.7 and 3.92 gears. That 2500 should do you just fine.

    I headed out for Alaska in May of 2016 with my new Ram 1500 5.7 8 speed 3.92 gears and a 5th wheel trailer. The Lyometer came out to 10.5 average for the entire round trip. I had budgeted $5K for fuel, oil and what nots for the truck and came in right on the money.

    Both of my trucks I use a 5/8" grade 8 bolt and a lock nut. I only tow a car trailer or another utility trailer.

    27 footer 8200# and 1400# pin weight. Pin weight is actual scaled weight. There's a Cotton Gin just down the road where I work part time and I can scale out before every trip. As it is I'm right at the limit and I'm running LT tires and air bags.
