    How flat do you need to get seasoned manifolds before re-installing? I bought the $80 HF 4" x 36" sander with 40, 60 and 80 grit zirconium belts. Got the drivers side to 0.008" using feeler gauge. Passenger side was warped pretty bad - 0.076" out. I have gotten it down to 0.018" and I'm wore...

    Is the 5.7 engine cover important for performance? Or can you run without? Just curious if running without will keep engine temps down.

    I felt nervous as heck before doing this procedure too. It's not as bad as it sounds. Also, before going thru the gears to move fluid turn off ESC.

    Removing the front driveshaft took the most amount of time for me. PB Blaster for an hour soak then hit it with 18V DeWalt impact gun. Factory used a ton of blue threadlocker on each bolt making them tough to remove. I'm sure an air impact will not have any problems. Good luck.

    What about the valve covers? Do they typically loosen as well? They look to be composite as well. I haven't checked mine yet.

    Thanks @Wildone I just bought a 2016 with 140K miles. Intake bolts were very loose. Tightened to spec with torque wrench. At least one to one and a half turns on each bolt.
