Alright, brand new truck covered in dog hair. When we travel they sit on the floor of the back seat and get hair all over the back of other front chairs and ground. I have the one piece husky floor protector which I love but it does extend under the seat, and the fabric on the back of the seat is still exposed.

Here are locations

I have tried the two covers linked at the bottom but they aren't wide enough and make the back seat look like a hobo is living there (although they do work).

Any slick suggestions? Thank you!

Got three dogs myself. The best you can do is minimize but not eliminate the dog hair sticking to these areas.

Good coat brush grooming before putting them in is the best you can do to cut the amount down.

No idea to reduce dog hair. But you can get a cheap squeegee from a dollar store and it pulls out dog hair from carpet (I didn't believe it would work either, but it really does)

Using rubber kitchen gloves works really well too. Just put them on and rub them across the floor to loosen the hair and then vacuum the piles out. I have a boxer and her short hair is a pain. You can never get all of it but it looks a lot better.

thx all, but two problems with the suggestion which i should have made clearer.

1) i have three children all in car seats in the back
2) i'm looking for prevention, not for cleaning solution

i'm trying to think of a way to protect using the similar material husky / weathertech use, the question is how to achieve the correct angel and length to cover.

i tried the full hammock method that goes from back seat to floor to top of back of fron seat... it's messy, a pain in the neck, and not very effective.

i considered throwing them under my tonneau... but based on other thread it sounds dangerous although i'm still not entirely convinced but definitely would prefer not to do that.

still searching if anyone has ideas!

Yea that carpet-fabric is hard to keep hair out of. As I shared a video of my moms Boston in other thread, her hair is short and stiff, my springer long and thin. My Springers actual comes out better. But your looking to prevent thinking out side the box: how about anti anxiety shirts (with seat covers?) on dogs when traveling? Necks and heads could still rub but should be a lot less hair than from shoulder, butts and backs.

@padilen hmmm, great idea. interesting on the removability of different hair types. however, i can feel my OCD rejecting this solution.

so here's what i just did at lunch. went to lowes and bought the following:

24x36 Mat

671119131826lg.jpg

here is the plan. i will bend the metal into an inverted L shap. I will then zip-tie the mats to the L so that they completely block dog hair from reaching under the seat and on the fabric at the very bottom of the back of the seat.

not sure these brackets work, but i can easily extend, thinking this could be a great solution! then i can get all the haters on my under the tonneau cover off my back hahahaahah!

also, for the side fabric exposure, i purchased a 3rd mat, i'l just cut a piece and lay it there for coverage, easy!

i'll post pics this could work.

If its only temporary... why not gets a clear painters tarp for like $2 and run it across floor?

@adrian good idea, but needs to go higher than the floor and i'll be using this probably 40 times a year, so i'd like to have something easy that doesn't make noise with the windows down and doesn't get tangled up with kids stuff

Ok I might be stretching on this idea but what if you tape off everything that needs to be covered, like your going fiberglass, BUT you use a few cans of plastidip to build your own "custom" floor mat. I have never used the stuff but I know it's essentially rubber. If it was built up thick enough I would imagine it would bond together and be strong enough to be used like a floor mat. Or I could be 100% wrong lol I'm just tossing out ideas.

I have the same issue...and have the same style full coverage floor mats. You just not going to protect everything. So I bought one of these...its a rubber brush for dog hair. Its the best brush I have ever seen or used. I keep one in the house and one in the truck in the storage bin.Hair does not stick to the brush it removes ALL the hair and leaves it in a little pile for you to toss.

so the metal didn't work, but rigged up with bungie cords, actually worked out great. went to lowes for the mats, one of the blackhawk brands.

tested last weekend, worked great with the husky liner protecting floor!

Glad it worked out. Do you find that it moves around a bit after a drive with your kids/dogs in the back?
