ive got a dodge ram 2002 slt and what i thought was the passenger front wheel bearing has turned into a 3 day experiment trying to figure it out. first i jacked up the truck and checked for play and there is no play in either front tires so i replaced the right front wheel hub assembly with one from a junk yard (tight on money) i spun it many times before i installed it and it sounded ok .still vibrating and making a in and out humming tire sound kinda like a helicopter so i changed both of the rear wheel bearings still humming not vibrating as much so after a test drive i went around and felt the hubs and the drivers side hub and brake caliper were realy hot to the touch so im thinking it might be the drivers side hub assembly.

i also replaced the passenger side cv axle and i couldnt get all the way on the spindle so its kinda loose could this also create a wheel bearing noise?

i need help please help me im trying to take a ride down to florida to start my insulation job and be with my dog and family but this truck is keeping me still because i dont want to drive 600 miles with a bad wheel bearing thank you.

Does the noise change when to turn left or right? Does it change when you accelerate or decelerate?

On the side that gets hot, are you sure the brake caliper isn't intermittently seizing up on you?

Might want to get it hot and then jack that side up and try to turn the wheel.
A warped rotor from a stuck brake caliper can also make that noise and vibration.

Having weird noises come from my front end. jacked it up and driver side (new wheel bearing) spins freely and easily. Passenger side has a lot of resistance in spin. Also can move the tire in and out of wheel well about 1mm back and fourth. Looking to replace wheel bearing but not sure that is it.
When driving it is a repeated sound (sounds like middle of the truck) that accelerates with speed.
In reverse extremely bad grinding/squealing.
Started with small clunking noise when turning left.
Got worse yesterday on drive home from work.
Squealing started as pulled into neighborhood.
Grinding and nasty sounds when in reverse (moving)
Now sound changed to the grumbling grinding it is making currently (no more clunking when turning just constant sound)

Sounds like bearing. That’s what mine was doing.

ADAM< sounds like a bearing there. U might want to get it checked/repaired before all sorts of bad things happen, just saying...

Added: Could be jammed/warped rotor, that would be the other thing I would check ASAP.

Thanks for response.
I already ordered a new wheel bearing coming in tomorrow.
But it doesn't sound like the other wheel bearing that I replaced. That was clearly identifiable as location and the grinding metal sound.
This has been changing from clunking to squealing to now grumbling and sounding like there is a lot of resistance even when rolling.
The rotor looked good but I did not look to much into it.
I am not driving the truck either as the sound begins at 5mph and I only progressed to 15mph before I felt like it was really bad.

There was a thread ref military service on here. Post in there your status/service and the Mods add the banner, at least that is what I think happened, LOL

IF U R getting resistance rolling, either Seized bearing, jammed rotor, jammed pads-caliper, something on the front axle *****

Added: Still think either a wheel bearing grenading or a jammed/warped rotor-caliper-pads, but I am no mechanic...
