Most "chips" have been proven to be useless junk. Tuners are pretty much the only way to go.

The day of the "chip" is over. All they did was overfuel the engine which produced a bit more power but had a detrimental effect on the top end of the engine and downstream components, such as plugs and cats.

Today, programmers are the way to go, such as those offered by Diablosport. One of their programmers, coupled with a custom tune, really wake up the truck. Add a cold air intake and freer flowing exhaust and you've completed the three best bang for the buck mods.

We have vendors here who can hook you up with a programmer & custom tune as a package. We also have vendors here who can hook you up with the cold air intake and freer flowing exhaust.

Good luck with your mods.

Chips are in the same category as the "tornado",. All designed to separate unsuspecting folk from theri money.

The 2013 5.7 I had got excellent mileage on the highway, 17-19, if the wind wasn’t blowing (rare). 12 - 13 in town. Towing 9-10. I had the 8 speed. All stock. With 3.21 gearing. What are you getting? Just curious. Now I have a power wagon and don’t care about MPG. Lol

Pretty close to the same. My Highway is a little less. Around 16.5 most of the time. I have the same gear, but its 4x4.

Mine was a 4x4 also. Laramie. 65 is when I got the best mileage. I live close to Texas and their speed limits are 75. I’d drop to around 17 going that speed.

After Google search for chips turned up claims for chips that both increase power AND mpg(!), I thought a chip of some kind must be somewhere in my 2007 5.7--'cause I am getting power-plus ("Jumps, doesn't it!" exclaimed a mechanic of years experience when he gave just a little gas and Zow!) and I get only 10-11 MPG!
I will take a look but if one is not under the dash or maybe on the computer (in the back of the engine compartment, right? Per youtube), where else? ***AND can I just remove it without any trouble?***

Power, efficiency and emissions... Pick two. You can't improve one without compromising another. It's a three legged table.

If you say you don't care about emissions.. Well that's not an attitude I can respect but also pushing the limits on emissions is going to reduce the lifetime of your catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, motor oil, everything that is affected by combustion quality will suffer if emissions suffer - it's not exclusively about the air we breathe.

Your truck may have had time installed. I don't believe there would be physical evidence of this. Other folk who are running a time would more than I.
