In channel all the way! My 15 ram CC i had the out channel and my 18 CC i have the in channel, the in channel just makes the lines look so much better. I have the lund/avs brand with the lund/avs aeroskin bug deflector on a sport hood as well

Only do In=channel vent visors. Why ? because over time the 3M stick on will come off and you end up trying to re-stick them,. or put on new tape to stick them on again, and them seem more susceptible to weather failures - i.e. cracking, etc. Have never had an in-channel crack or come off, or not work like they are supposed to work. Have put in-channel on 11 trucks, a mix of Dakotas (most recent one done yesterday 16 Sept 2018, oldest one a 1994 Dakota Club cab with still its ones, and Many RAMs. Both Dodge RAMS and Ram RAMS. Anyway in-channel wins in my book.

I won’t ever, ever do the in-channels again, regardless of the brand. Aside from cleaning the inside of the weatherstripping where the windows push up into really really well, about a year and a half later, the fairly expensive EGR brand vent visors I had still came unstuck and chattered like an sonofabitch to the point to where I never could anymore drive the truck with the windows down at all. Then once I removed them to go with the stick-ons, my windows never would seal out the wind noise anymore because the window channels were stretched open. I finally got them to quieten down a little bit by stuffing thin strips of dark-colored micro fiber towels in the channels but my wind noise never went away, nothing short of just replacing them. Hopefully you don’t have the same issue I did OP but as I stated, I’ll never use those in-channels again.

If the tape ever comes undone, it’s not hard to remove the tape and apply new stuff. I guess to me it’s more important not having to ever aid in replacing window gaskets when with the right tools, parts and a little elbow grease, reapplying the stick on vent visors really isn’t that hard.

In channel AVS brand - work great as long as you remember the front mounting tabs don’t go in the window channel itself but tuck in behind the mirror trim, you’ll be fine. If you put them in the window channel you’ll have windows that bounce back and won’t close properly if at all.

I want the tape on / outside channel but I am having trouble finding ones that I feel confident will work around the side mirror plastic area.

In some images I see them off set around the area in question. See below on vehicle.

In other images online I see no offset.

Anyone here order visors only to find that they will not tape around the plastic raised area of the side mirror?

I had a friend give some to me and when I held up to my truck the front corner would not work around this area.

Outside looks as appealing as a stick on hood scoop or a stick on cab spoiler so I tried inside ,Weathertech. I could hear a new sound slightly . Seeing how I don't smoke I saw no point in adding noise to the interior no matter how little so in the can they went .

In channel...out channels only sell because the buyers didn't know there was a much better looking option...[emoji6]

I would suggest In channel. I purchased the EGR brand. The front windows are not attached with double sided sticky tape. They are held in by the pressure of the window. If you look up egr in channel visor instal you will see. They are an actual full channel rain guard. I had them on my escape for 4 years and now my truck for over two months and never had a single problem no wind noise or them failing. The front windows are kept in the pressure of the window sealing them to the window seal. They say keep your windows up for 24 hours after instal The back windows have double sided sticky tap. I have a quad cab and these have not done me wrong

If you look. These actually go from the bottom of the window to the A pillar. I will get a few better pictures tomorrow when the suns up

People have problems with rolling the windows up. If you instal them correctly they are the best! They don’t stick out over an inch.

I was in the vehicle accessories industry for a long time at a dealership and aftermarket. I agree 100% in channels look way better but if you are going to keep your truck go out. In channels destroy the door track molding and once they get old they dig into the glass too. I’ve seen hundreds of issues none of which are immediate it takes a few years for the issues to arrive but when they come it costs a lot more than the $75 visors
Guys talking about dried up double sided tape on the paint. Imagine that in the window track stuck to the felt liner (if you scrap it out there is no more felt liner) just a flappy piece of rubber that’s wide enough for 2-3 windows to fit in

That looking better part is subjective but those in-channels stretch your window channels out. Found that out the hard wY on my old truck, that’s why I’ll never own another set again. Made my windows leak like crazy.

I can deal with that “dried up double sided tape” when it dries out. Done it before. One of those sticker eraser wheels works wonders. Put new tape on and your good to go for another several years; no leaky window tract at all...[emoji41]

Had AVS in-channel on my 2015. Drivers side started to leak and rattle after about 1.5 years. I decided no visors for the new truck

Sorry!....lol. As far as whether or not they’ll actually start to wear into the windows like that other poster earlier was saying, I have no idea on that and can’t vouch for that as I didn’t have mine on that long because I got rid of them but I can say that once you have yours in there that it’s prolly best to keep using the in-channels since your window gaskets are already stretched.

The only time my windows had air leaks was after I removed them. When they were in there, the windows didn’t really leak but the driver side one would rattle and chatter like crazy when I rolled the window down because no matter how well I cleaned the inside of the widow gasket, it still came unstuck.

Before that I’ve always used tape-on visors. When they start to come off, I just pick a nice, warm day and carefully peel them off, clean the residue, apply new of that 3M tape and stick ‘em back on for another 3 and a half, 4 years.

Needless to say, I’m back to using tape-on’s....[emoji6]
