Shocker.... I need to get a new transmission for my Megacab.

Where is the best place (cost and quality wise) for a new one?

Where is the best place to look for a quality used one?

If you can rebuild an engine, you can rebuild your transmission. There are step-by-step instructional videos on youtube that show you how.

Dropit about3 hrs break it open look at foward drive clutches if wore out replace 5x$3 each clean in side good break cleaner put back in truck you just saved 2500

If you don't want to rebuild Jasper is the way to go as remanufactured engines and transmissions the warranty is what sell it.

If you're not into turning wrenches yourself or don t really want to overhaul, I'd hit the local Craigslist and snag one there. In Dallas Craigslist I see 545RFE's available all the time for $300-$650. If you go the LKQ route you will spend a little more cash but you can get one with LKQ's warranty.

I am a new kid to the forums looking to solve the tick but I did put a transmission in at 190K.

I was pretty happy with street smart transmission, fully reman, driveway black crate delivered at $1800, no core pre charge. Was hot tested, prefilled, new torque converter, each tapped set of holes was wax marked for quality. Came with extra penzoil fluid. Plug in, no errors. Warranty, I already put 10K on it, no issues.

Wheee to get a transmission?
