I’m looking for a tonneau cover for my 2019 Ram 1500, short bed, with ram boxes and silver tie down rails on each side of bed. Looks like these tie down bars maybe a problem getting a cover to fit properly. Anyone have a cover installed that they are happy with in this application? Looking for a hard folding cover. Thanks

MVIMG_20190922_114746.jpg MVIMG_20190922_114915.jpg I installed a Truxedo Sentry CT hard roll up cover on my 2019 1500 Limited with ram boxes. It mounts to the existing ram box adjustable tie down rails for a clean install. It mounts in a slot on the rails over the adjustable tie downs so you don't have to remove the tie downs. Its low profile so you can open the ram box covers all the way. I had an issue with the rails on one side where the cover was sitting high. Had to loosen the bolts holding the rail, push it down and re-tighten, then all was good. It uses sliding mounts at the far end so you can remove the whole cover without tools but using a hammer to tap on the sliders makes it easier to unlock. The tailgate side you pull on a cable to unlock.

I had a hard folding cover on my previous truck and think that the hard rollup is just as good. This cover is expensive compared to others but I think its worth it.

I finally chose a Lomax tri-fold because of reviews and the great price from Nick on this forum. I‘m still waiting to stall because there’s something wrong with my Ram boxes and the dealer is replacing both shortly. For some reason the boxes don’t chose correctly and there’s no way to fix them only replace.

I do like the looks and functionality of your roll up but as you said they are a bit pricy.

My new ramboxes installed I was able to get the new cover installed between all this rain. Well the cover came poorly boxed and obviously had been opened by someone for some reason. Good thing all the parts were there. Unfortunately there was some damage to the cover and the edge of the small aluminum panel was bent. I bent it back with some tools the best I could to get it to lay flat. Doesn’t look great but I think it will work and look ok with a little paint touch up. The install was fairly simple and went pretty quickly. As far as weather stripping goes pretty poor. Kind of a joke the way they want you to fit it. On my truck it didn’t fit anyway as it was to narrow for the gap. Looks pretty nice installed and time will tell about durability. The panels are a nice flat black but they didn’t paint the edges and the raw aluminum shows. Probable the worst thing about the cover next to the **** poor weather stripping. I got a great price on the cover so I can’t complaint to much and would have returned it if I had paired full price or sale price. Probably not something I would recommend unless you get a great price.

That is odd, mine doesn't look anything like that. The weather strip is perfect on my cover. I would reach out to nick to see if he can help you get a warranty exchange from the manufacturer.

I wouldn't accept that, there are tons of scratches all over the edges, rubber between the panels is coming apart... Looks like a returned item was sent to you.

Bummer!

G-ride990 I know what you mean but it’s not worth the effort. Only tall people will notice the scratches and such. Not Nicks fault I’m sure he would do something about the issue but its just not that important to me. Just like to show to others the quality of things I buy for the truck.

Now my just installed NFab podium steps there’s something to brag about there are wonderful and look fantastic. Let’s this old man and his woman get into the truck with ease!

Nick helped me out when Carven sent me some poorly manufactured exhaust tips, got me a new set shipped right away.

Sucks you got a cover that isn't perfect when quite of few of us here have perfect covers.

I get what you mean though, if you are okay with it that is what matters. Hope you enjoy the cover like I have!

Do you have some pics of the steps installed? I constantly kick around the idea of adding some to my truck but never end up pulling the trigger.

Once I get my '21, I am going with the Lomax as well. I have researched most of the popular ones, and have settled on the Lomax.

G-Ride990 sorry for the delay but here are some pictures of the stamps on my truck. Again they are great for my short legs.

BNeal you might reconsider that choice. This cover fits my needs just barely. Cost was a very big factor but you get what you pay for. Leaks like a sieve because of the improper weather seals but I probably could do something about that. Looks good and low profile. When opening and closing the cover that becomes a challenge to make sure you close it carefully so it aligns properly. Almost need two hands to close it because the hinge portion is wide and flex’s quite a bit and you have to make sure the aluminum sections stay straight or it won’t set properly. Not a big deal but something to consider. I’m sure there are much better covers that open and close with more ease. Forget about security as this can easily be open even with the tail gate locked.

Nick sells others brand covers and I’m sure his prices will be just as good as on this one.

I have the Truck Gear (Line-X) rollup up. It is probably made by the same company as sierraangler's. But instead of the 3 yr warranty, they have the ".LIFETIME END-TO-END WARRANTY" It does require to be installed by Line-x dealer. Quite $$$, but with my luck, the warranty did me in when choosing a cover. Also I have a great dislike for the panel fold up ones. Mine isn't the Rambox version (which they have), but you get the jest.

Will the Diamondback work? I know they make it for the Rambox.

I like that it does not need mounting hardware that impedes the rails like the BAK, but I think I'd miss the ability to flip it up when using the bed.

Is it keeping most of the water out of the bed? BAK has a few seals and drip cups, where there seems to be fewer but more targeted with Lomax.

I would recommend mopar.
I'm not clear on what the MOPAR options are or their looks, their functionality, or which ones need a rail swap. So far I've only found two hard folding, and both seems to use the standard rails.
82212184AB Hard Folding Tonneau cover with fabric top - clamps to open ?
82215225AD Hard Folding Tonneau cover - seems similar to Lomax (does not flip to clear bed, has dedicated rail)
82215862 soft trifold
82215253AB soft rollup

Do any Tonneau covers fold longitudinally (longways)? This would be great for hauling one dirt bike. I'm not interested in blocking my rear window or removing the cover and leaving it somewhere when I need to haul a bike.
