Tonneau cover that locks with the truck

So I'm about to get my first truck. I've always had large suvs and I want to cover the bed so that I can have the storage I'm used to. My question is are there sliding tonneau covers or kits you can install so that they will lock and unlock when your truck does? It seems like an easy thing to do much like installing an alarm. Just a power wire to battery and another wire tied into the wire that unlocks your doors. Since I've never had one before am I missing something? Would this be a bad idea for some reason? To me it seems like the way I would want it to work but I haven't found anything like it. I've seen electric retracting covers but then you have to have another remote which I don't want. I also found one kit that unlocks a bed cover hatch but I don't think the latch works the same way. Any thoughts?

I think all of the covers open from underneath the cover and behind the tailgate thus if tailgate is locked so is the cover. Of course the contents are only as secure as the cover. There are numerous threads with pros/cons of each brand/style and you will need to chose one that works for you. I have a Bakflip and it suits my needs perfectly and feel confident that my bed and it’s contents are secure.

I had a Pace Edwards manual rolling hard top Lasted me 13 years with lots of opening and closing, carrying dirt and stone in the bed, etc. It was a very good unit, downside was ice on it = no opening. Not many times it affected me in Upstate NY but when it did, ugh. I now have a hard trifold I got from Walmart 4 years ago. Less than $400 and it works great, no leaks. PE locked/unlocked on top so you could roll back with tailgate up, trifold handles underneath prevent opening when tailgate is up. Good luck

They just open from underneath, Locking it wouldn't do any good. They are easy to pry open...lol...

Most of them require the tail gate to be open but can be broken in to but lets face it if someone wants to break into your truck all they need to do is break the glass and they are in anyway. What style bed cover would you like, hard or soft, Folding, rolling, retracting, etc...?

I have a 2021 Ram 1500 Longhorn 10th anniversary edition with RamBox and MFT. The inside rails with cleat tie-downs is BLACK metal not silver. I mention the color of the inside rails because that appears to be a fitment issue if the rails are NOT silver. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hard tri-fold cover that will fit with a 2021 Ram with the same configuration?

I personally like the Backflip G2
It is a hard folding cover, i carry a 4 x 4 piece of plywood that can be set on top of the Backflip to stand on it, Often when we moved double wide Mobile Homes & other Visqueen covered truck loads, the Visqueen plastic sheeting starts to rip off the sides & the truckers need to refasten it

I had the BakFLip FiberMax and loved it. We had a bad hail storm in Colorado and the hail went though some folks roofs and really trashed the truck too, but none of the hail went through the bed cover. There were a lot of pimples underneath the cover but they didn't go through. It was very heavy but I guess that's part of it being heavy duty. I have the Lund soft cover back on for now but will be replacing the hard cover when I fugure out what I want to put on next. I'll likely go back to that some one when it comes time for that.

My 15 SLT came with a hard 4 section cover.It has 2 external locks(frt and rr) but you can leave it locked and undo it from the inside after you drop the tailgate.Liked it so much I kept it for my 19 Classic.
