That’s why I was looking at the scud plus from frp. Has more overlap for bleed off. I could do with stock pistons and rods since I’m not boosting. They’re good to 700hp supposedly. I could just run 5.7 heads on it. That’s 10:1 compression. Would also save me a to. Since I could send my 5.7 heads out and just do a bge short block.

From frp.
219/226 112+4 "Scud Plus VVT" Designed for 5.7/6.4 truck applications, this is for those who need torque above all, but need more overlap to bleed off cylinder pressure. Mild idle, no converter required.
The stock 6.4 truck pistons are actually a pretty decent piston especially if you open up the ring gap slightly. I have a buddy who sprays a 175 shot on the stock truck pistons with nothing more then opening up the ring gap. He beats the hell out of the truck, and has been doing it for a few years now, lol.I kind of kick my rear on that one,as i found him the 6.4,and sold it to him for a $1,000 bucks, and all that was wrong with it was a bad lifter. In hind sight i should of kept it for myself, but that was back when i was getting warrentied 6.4's for $900.00 Canuck, and had picked up 4 from my local dealer, but after that they dried up,aarrgghh, lol Take a read through this article if you haven't already,it's worth taking a few minutes to read the complete article. The combo above will be a pretty decent combo as far as torque and power output goes, and should live a fairly long life,as you're not messing with the rod/stroke ratio, and putting more load on the piston skirt and cylinder wall.

That brings back memories of going to my local small town airport on Friday nights with my old 68 and 4 Jerry cans in the trunk, then going back on Sunday afternoon and restocking, lol. That was back in the late 70's/early 80's when restrictions weren't like they are today, and you could actually fill a car up from the small town airport pumps. Sure miss those more relaxed days, ;) :Big Laugh:

Skelly gas with 8 different octane ratings, a mile down the block. All with tetraethyl lead, of course.

8 differant octane ratings,i can come up with about 6,lol. 87 / 89 / 91 / 93 / 100 and E85,what are the other 2 i'm missing. I'm guessing Skelly means Shell,but that's only a guess, :Big Laugh:

Can't say as i've ever seen a Skelly station in Canuckastan, and even Texaco's aren't anywhere near as common as they used to be,they're still around, but not in the same quantity as they used to be .You still got me curious on the 8 octane levels, which ones have i missed, lol

Oh, I don't remember them. I could only afford a bike until Skelly was long gone.

Dad went to Texaco.

I see 87, 89, 91, 93, e15, e50, e85, and every once in a while I can find nonE 88 or nonE 90.
Here our common grades are 87 / 89 / 91 and 93/94. There's only one station in Saskatchewan and Alberta that i know of that sells E85,and guys come along ways with barrels to get it. It's about 40 miles from me,but i know of guys that make a 600 mile round trip with barrels for it. E85 still has along ways to go up here, before i'll even think of running it.
