Dang how are you guys doing it?! Do you all have 8 spd and 2WD?
Mine topped out at 322 WHP. That's with an AFE CAI, comp cams 216/222 cam, MDS delete, 1 3/4" LT headers, 16" magnaflow, and dyno tune. I have the 65rfe and it's 4x4. The cam added 62 WHP.
Yes 8spd 2wd.
Is your truck lifted? Guy who took my test said tires effect whp but i dont know??
I have stock 265/70/17s . I want to get something that grabs a little better.

I did consider long tubes. Trust me I really wanted a pair. However, a few factors made me go w shorties. I wont go catless. Failed a emission test once because of that. So after that I keep it legal. Yes I had to consider the cost of a new cat system and compared to a cat back dual exhaust from single, I had to go with that. Expendable funds. Yea, I'd like to get rid of that Y. Need to find a cheap muffler shop and have a plan. Lol

I also did consider goin with the 6.4 intake, something i know i can do myself.
However, I had already made up my mind and got the Vararam AirGrabber. Very cool old school look, makes me smile every time i open the hood. Small as they my be, definitely some gains.

Anyways, where the throttle body mounts on the 6.4, it doesn't match the Vararam set up. Sadly.
I was a bit aggressive w the 90mm but the response is quite noticeable, still might keep it on for now.
I was goin to wait on getting a torque converter as again funds were a factor, but i noticed that updating my tune wld be additional cost after a torque converter install.

I waiting on a 3600 stall from Moe's.
Damn, the wait feels like forever, lol.

So that was why i scrabbled around to find a Dyno that wld take my truck. Many places said they couldn't fit me.

I wanted to see what gains I wld make w the cam and tune.
My mods are minimal so I'm pretty much stock.

I thought I'd show my progress as my build goes.
I’m in N. Va/ Fairfax county & had to pass emissions, got high flow cats with my y-pipe. I don’t know how restrictive they are, not much bigger than the pipe, but passed with no problem according to the shop I went to for inspection & emissions.

Quick_Shifter, on this forum, has a shop in PA. The headers & y- pipe are stainless works he ordered & installed, 2.5 hour drive for me but definitely the only shop I take my truck to for anything besides inspections.

Thank for your help with the input. I want to do the cluch fan delete, and efan swap. I also have a 180° therm in hand just need to swap it out at work.
How much did u pay for the fan, got a link?
Before you spend money on the V6 fan,run it for awhile with the stock efan,if it overheats on you, then spring for the V6 fan.Alot of guys are just running the stock efan with no issues with a 180 thermostat and the fan parameters reset for the thermostat. I'm a firm believer in not spending money unless needed, lol.

You know I heard the same about the stock fan w the 180 therm. The tune shld take care of the fan settings and temp.
Maybe I'll will wait and see. Thanks.

I have a buddy in Georgia who tows, and all he's using is the stock e-fan / 180 t-sat and the tune reset for the thermostat. I've never had any overheating issues on mine with the stock e-fan,and i've been known to play on mountain roads where the truck is running between 4500 and 6500 rpm, with my boot stuck through the floor,in 3rd to 5th gears at 95f,at elevations approaching 7,000ft,and i've never had my coolant temp get above 200.

So here is my first Dyno Run to see my horsepower on my 2017 Ram 5.7L

Current mods are VeraRam Air grabber cai, BFC wrapped shorty's, aftermarket cat back from single to dual exhaust, 90 mm throttle body.

311.6 horsepower at 5,500 RPM and maximum torque 324.4 at 4,550 .

My future mod is a Texas Speed stage 2 cam with a custom grind by flying Ryan performance and a tune also by flying Ryan performance.

I'll be running a second Dyno to see my gains. Let me get your thoughts and feedback.
Little confused.. doesn't a 5.7 from that year have 385 hp from the factory?

Should just do a supercharger and call it a day. You will probably be more than halfway there after all the exhaust and internal modifications to achieve a similar HP. Plus then your exhaust won’t have to be crazy loud lol.

Lots of money spent. Would it have been better to put in a 6.4 RAM?

Actually I believe it is rated at 395 with 410 lb of torque. But I think that is at the flywheel and not RWHP.
But I'm a novice and I definitely could be wrong. However I did read someone mentioning about 290-320 horsepower at RWHP for stock.

Not sure what a 6.4 wld cost plus, install also wld I need a new CPU?
So far I've only got about 850 bucks or so into it with Shorty headers, cat back system and Vera Ram air Grabber Cai. I got my throttle body for free so that was a bonus. The brake shop estimated $750 for rotors and pads all the way around. I did it myself for under 300 bucks. So I don't feel like I really have a lot into it. I did however spend $2,000 on a full cam stage 2 Kit. Everything's included. Like I said I'm not sure what the cost would be for a 6.4, installed.
I would love to put a 6.4 in my truck .
ANYONE got the cost and info on that ?

Depends on new or used and shop costs. The stock 5.7 pcm can run the 6.4. Just requires a tune for it. And depends on Which 6.4/392 block you go with. Off the bat the new 392 is 485 hp. The old 392 block made 470 hp

My pocketbook would probably be more in the range of used or rebuilt if the cost of a rebuild wasn't too much or if it wasn't too far from New then I guess I would go new. At least the PCM would just need a tune and not to be replaced.

MMX has new 6.4 long blocks that you can even spec with an upgraded cam if you want, that are fairly reasonable in price.
