Sucks to be poor - Rant

I recently wanted to add a third vehicle to the two trucks we currently own, 2012 Ram and a 2014 F150. Both 4WD. Paid 21K cash for the Ram in 2012, new off the lot. Dealer couldn't move it - has crank windows. :) The F150 is the 5.0L Coyote, crew cab, XL trim but has all the towing and...

Another 4.7 Engine Tick - Anything else to try before engine rebuild?

My 2012 4.7 with 230K miles has ticked on startup forever. Goes away after about a minute. Idle is fine. Mileage is great too. At this point in the life of the truck, I just keep up with regular 5K oil changes, maintenance, and fluids. Original transmission too. If it explodes one day, I'll...

    Nightmares 2013 Ram

To the OP - I'd be calling the dealer out on this one, as others have suggested. If the boots were completely gone it should have been noted at the last OC. I've always had hubs start ticking well before boots failed, but I'm not in a cold climate either. I did the entire front end on my 2012...

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

Did the cabin filter mod to my 2012. AC and heater core was replaced about three months ago and it was recommended. Finally got around to it. The filter addition appeared to subdue the overall air noise coming from the blower when on high. Have a sharp cutting tool that you are comfortable...

Avoid Cooper Tires Especially Discoverer at3

My experience with Coopers mirrors yours. Used them for years on my personal vehicles and on a fleet of work trucks. We also had good luck with them, until about 2017. Out of round issues, unusual tread wear and excessive noise. I had a set on my Ram that got so bad, I ended up replacing...

    Premium vs regular gas

My 2012 4.7L has the capability to use E85, which I had never used before. I was on fumes and pulled into a station that had E85 for a buck less a gallon than 87 octane regular. Tried it. Truck ran like a scalded cat on the freeway, but the gas mileage, ooh! Ran two tanks through it fairly...

    2022 Ram 1500 3.6 eTorque Experience

To the OP - Nice looking truck. Since we're reporting mileage, my old 4.7L V8 is still getting 17-18 mpg in around town driving, and if I don't exceed 75 MPH on long trips and use cruise control, the best I've seen was 22.5 mpg. Not too shabby for a 10 year old truck.

What did you do with your 4th Gen this week?

This past weekend I was busy. Semi-major front-end overhaul. Just hit 200K miles a few weeks ago. It was in dire need.. Replaced all of the following: 1. Shocks/struts assemblies. 2. New CV axles both sides & intermediate shaft on driver side. 3. New upper & lower ball joints - both sides...

What happens when the Parking Brake Assembly disintegrates at speed?

Update on this thread. Replaced both rear parking brake assemblies even though only one had failed. The other was in very poor condition. While I had what amounted to almost the entire rear end apart and both axles pulled, went ahead and replaced brakes/rotors and the wheel bearings + seals...

What happens when the Parking Brake Assembly disintegrates at speed?

Hello - new forum user here, longtime Ram owner, 2012 Tradesman 4x4, 4.7L. Bought it new back in 2012. Just hit 200K, still going strong. Thought I would share a little experience I had yesterday. Pulled out of the driveway headed to another town about 40 miles away. Got about 1/2-mile down...
