    Electronic Braking issues

More often it's an electronic issue than a mechanical one. The Electronic sensor for the HCU/ABS brake system connection can get dirty and cause a shortage. It's connected to the front of the HCU module. It's located behind the driver side front wheel well and under a protective plastic cover...

Stellantis’ new Ram pickup is an EV — with a gas-powered generator in case the battery runs out. The end of the Hemi???

I will stick to my paid off 2018 Ram 3500 diesel as long as I can or until I no longer have the need for a truck.

How much better is a 2500 for towing?

I hear that! I never understood why anyone gets a truck with it’s ass cut short…lol. When I bought my truck I already knew what I needed it for and past experience of times with prior trucks wishing it could do more. So lesson learned for me is having a truck to meet your needs as well as...

How much better is a 2500 for towing?

All true! Just depends on your needs. Mine primarily for pulling the 5th wheel and secondary the long bed ability for better distribution and of course greater room for hauling stuff in the bed, especially 8’ boards etc… It’s always nice knowing that when ever needed I have the pulling and...

How much better is a 2500 for towing?

In my opinion anyone getting a truck for pulling heavier loads (travel trailers/fifth wheels or heavy equipment should just go with the 3500 (1 tons) for the small increase in price. I always hear people say afterwards, “I don’t know why I didn’t just go with getting a 1 ton instead”, my dad...

Post VB6 emission PCM upgrade recall post performance

Correct, the VB6 recall was for the 2019 trucks done in 2020. The 67A is the current recall for 2013-2018. No release date for emissions recall has been given for the 2020-2023.

    FCA emissions recall 67A

Who to believe? A “defeat device”, aka cheat device, is a piece of software installed in a vehicles control unit, aka powertrain control module (PCM), that can detect when a vehicle is undergoing an emissions test and change the vehicles emissions performance to improve results. Basically...

    FCA emissions recall 67A

I'm not sure how OBDII locks can prevent manual access to the PCM unit itself and doing a PCM flash update through a J2534 wifi to computer connection. But if it can, I certainly would be interested in putting one on!

    FCA emissions recall 67A

After myself and other stating they will not have the 67A recall done on their trucks, I happen to notice in the owners manual stating "FCA US LLC reserves the right to make changes in design and specifications, and/or make additions to or improvements to its products without imposing any...

Post VB6 emission PCM upgrade recall post performance

Thanks for your feedback on your truck post PCM flash re-calibration. My understanding the 2020-2023 HD trucks are next up on the emissions upgrade recall, but no set date as of yet.

Post VB6 emission PCM upgrade recall post performance

So there is a now a "67A" Emissions PCM recalibration upgrade recall for 2500 and 3500 HD trucks 2013-2018. Looking for feedback on post truck performance or issues from 2019 truck owners that had the same type of recall "VB6" done in 2020 on your trucks?

    FCA emissions recall 67A

So I looked back in previous post and found the discussions with the same emissions PCM upgrade recall VB6 in 2020 for the 2019 HD models. Reports from members then indicate no real change in performance afterwards other than perhaps some DEF consumption actually being less used...

    FCA emissions recall 67A

Apparently this has been going on since the 2019 truck recall VB6 in 2020. Concluding a Four-Year Emissions Saga The story goes back to 2019, when Cummins announced it had begun a formal review of its emissions certification and compliance process relating to diesel engines it supplied for Ram...

    FCA emissions recall 67A

Interesting? Back in February 2020 there was a similar recall for certain 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Trucks. "The engine control software on about 91,000 of the above vehicles must be updated with an upgraded calibration as required by the US Environmental Protection Agency and California Air...

    FCA emissions recall 67A

I agree! However in a statement, Cummins said it did not "admit" any wrongdoing and that it had no evidence its employees acted in bad faith. So then why agree to settle with California's Air Resources Board? I can't imagine it would cost them anything near the 1.6 billion penalty paid to...

    Cummins $1.6 billion dollar fine!!!

As far as we can assume. Unfortunately the recall doesn't state how the FCA US LLC came to the determination that requires the upgraded emissions control software according to Federal and California regulations/standards.

    Cummins $1.6 billion dollar fine!!!

I've seen youtube video of guy that had it done and then test drove with pulling trailer with 9,000lb tracker up grades for 150 miles and found no change in power or milage. Some think it's just a software update, but the recall states it's an "upgraded calibration".

    Cummins $1.6 billion dollar fine!!!

Here some more info I found from another forums posting( cummins-67a-recall.121021 ) that makes some sense around the 1.6 billion fine and perhaps to the 67A emissions recall. Speculation, but some possible industry insight about the 'defeat device' relating to the Cummins EPA settlement. "The...

    FCA emissions recall 67A

Got the 67A recall letter couple days ago. Here's my concern. Cummins 1.6 billion fine alleges Cummins installed "types of devices to cheat federal environmental laws". Defeat devices are designed to "bypass, defeat, or render inoperative emissions controls such as emission sensors and onboard...
