Dealership said my starter is bad
Not sure if it's been mentioned yet as I didn't read all the comments but if it's a 1500 they come with 3 different alternators... A 160 amp, 180 amp and 220 amp depending on model and trim / options. Sounds like you got a quote on the 220 amp one. My 2015 came with a 160 amp and parts stores...- Selcher

*** Update *** Took the truck to an automotive electrical guru and he connected his scanner up. There was like 20+ codes so he cleared them then couldn't reproduce the error. Tested the alternator and it came back good. The truck was cold and just idling in the drive way though so no codes or trouble light popped up. Yes sir, I read it twice. I'm getting the alternator tested tomorrow morning. I just threw the battery back in and the codes are all cleared of course. I let it idle for 5 minutes and nothing came up on the dash or acted funny. Could a faulty alternator really cause all that bizarre...- Selcher

Battery is 6.5 years old from the factory so that's a decent amount of time on it. Can't drive the truck so might just buy a new battery and throw it in. Or a new alternator. Or both. UGH be ****** if neither works. Appreciate the replies so far! Thanks!- Selcher

Yeah man, I agree... it seems from my limited research that the ARH Long Tubes are the best for my set up. I don't cheap out on any parts. Price doesn't influence my decisions for my truck. I want the best.- Selcher
