207,000 miles. Excessive blow by. Outside of airbox and air filter are covered in oil. Oil pressure drops to mid 20's. And lots of white smoke coming from oil filler at idle. Checked that the other day.
I would rebuild but would like the warranty of a new motor.
Buying a crate motor soon. What are some reputable companies to look into. Only ones I've heard of are jasper and s and j engine.
I've heard horror stories about jasper and don't want to pull a new motor after it's in.
Also not sure what I'm getting myself into. The only thing I've swapped a...
I would try it myself if I had the time. I like learning and it gives me a reason to buy new tools. Plus, I can always teach my son in the future once he's old enough. He's six and always helps me change oil and gets me tools I need
Rebuilt top end short runner in the intake went out. Valve were ducking into the heads. So. Threw on new heads, push rods and rockers. Blow by is horrible. Starting to run down the outside of the air box and white smoke coming out where you add oil
Rings are shot. Got a shop quoting me about 8,000 for a crate motor and labor. 5,400 for the crate motor. Anyone think I should find another shop to hone cylinders and rebuild existing motor. I've recently done a lot of top end work on it.
Not sure if that would be a cheaper route. Or good...
Had a rewards credit at autozone. Been using fram so I went and got a mobile 1 high performance. Didn't change oil. Just filter. Pressure went from 47 psi with fram to 68 psi with Mobil 1 on startup. Obviously having a filter issue.
If the mobil 1 performs better til oil change I'll never go...
I've replaced the oil pressure sensor and camshaft sensor. But had code p1524 code pop up today. Wife took it to a shop today and had the truck scanned.
Mechanic mentioned using 10w30. Would this be recommended by anyone here.
Recently changed oil pump pan gasket and cleaned pick up tube and...
I've recently done a lot of work to my truck. In the beginning thought I rounded off a cam lobe but that wasn't the issue.
After all the work I've done I decided to replace all the o2 sensors. Did a 1 for 1 swap so they would be in the correct connectors. But now I'm getting code p0152 and I...
This is driving me crazy. I've tested all fuel injectors with a voltmeter. And can hear them operating with a rubber hose. But still getting p0300 random misfire.
Brand new spark plugs and as I just said fuel injectors are good.
What should my next step be, coil packs. I have replaced 2 of those
I took it to my mechanic the other day and had him use his. I'll still try the fuel injector in the morning and go to him the next time I'm off work if it's not cleared up
