    Sold the '16 RAM 1500

You would only pay tax on vehicle sale if it was depreciated in excess of cash value. I did not depreciate my vehicle. I did write off non-reimbursed business miles as sales expense, only using the legal mileage allowance.

    Sold the '16 RAM 1500

One month update (5 weeks actually). I've already put 3200 miles on the company F150, with a fair amount of running to do over the next month. The Ram had 83,000 on it, still ran really good, reality is, I'm better off with a company vehicle for the miles I put on it. Overall it's hard to...

    Sold the '16 RAM 1500

"Well, I would call this a win-win. You unloaded some debt, plus ownership and operating expenses and still have your transportation needs met" You're right, my wife said the same thing. Just not the same though, I take personal pride in my vehicles. Just not the same.

    Sold the '16 RAM 1500

I had talked about this while back. Company I worked for was cutting out vehicle allowances and requiring you to drive company provided vehicles only for work. Can't say I'm happy with the arrangement but it is what it is. Bought the truck Jan 2018 with 9400 miles on it, currently has 82500...

Fuel Economy - LT Tires or Temperatures ?

I'd be real happy with 16 mpg average. With exception of handful of long drives I've take, I can't seem to get over low 15's, high 14's in winter. In this area, longest highway run I ever seem to make is maybe 15-20 miles before exiting and then back into urban stop and go traffic.

    Manifolds leak again, options please

For bolts to break a second time, I would be looking at the exhaust system mounts. Once manifolds are seasoned, they typically don't change.

    Alpine system upgrade consensus?

Great way to become deaf. Not even a question of will you get hearing loss, but only a matter of how long.

    2015 Ram Hemi needs a new battery....suggestions?

Just did same thing, Diehard Gold, and they put it in, took the old one right there, no core charge, no return trip.

    Dealership fixed my manifold bolts!

Just had my 2016 done couple weeks ago. My guess, the bolts were probably broken for a while. I would think the manifolds are seasoned by now and should be stable going forward.

    5w20 vs 5w30

If someone were to do the search and ID the valve springs for a 5.7 or 6.4 truck engine and the Hi-Po 6.4 in the cars chassis, I would bet the valve springs have significantly higher seat and open pressure. Manufacturer most likely spec'd a lubricant for cold flow over the widest range of...

    5w20 vs 5w30

Yes, still have it. We decided to keep it when the company truck arrives. It's in really good shape, fully loaded. Just put a new battery in, only service left to do is new belt and trans service. It will be come a garage queen. I owe $$$ on it, but I couldn't buy anything close to what I...

    5w20 vs 5w30

74,000 on mine now, ran 5W-20 per the spec up to about 60,000 miles. Made the switch to 5W-30 because I noticed a distinct tapping, which I assumed were the lifters. Turned out to be a progressively louder exhaust leak which really became more evident this past fall when temps started dropping...

Hemi carnage - All 8 intake valves bent after cam swap

I haven't had one of these apart, some engines, the difference is hot as severe. Good luck with it.

Hemi carnage - All 8 intake valves bent after cam swap

Are you sure the push rods weren't swapped position? I've seen bent pushrods, bent valves over the years due to cam phasing, severe valve float and incorrect pushrods.

Manifold repair Thursday - under warranty

Truck was bought 01/18 with 9400 miles, now has 72,800. Came with the 7yr/100,000 Powertrain Warranty. Getting to the point where the cold ticking is louder. I suspect broken manifold bolts on passenger side. Finally got chance to stop by the dealer to discuss, and yes, broken manifold bolts...

    Rear diff done

What kind of driving have you been doing? Off-roading? What's the tire setup? How any miles on it? Spider gears are a weak link in a differential.

Have to make a decision on my '16 to keep or not

Absolutely not. If anything, I may trade it for an SUV, something that will tow my trailer but be a little more nimble for running around. But definitely not listing any ads for private sale.

Have to make a decision on my '16 to keep or not

We were talking about it some more, think the decision has been made to sell it as soon as the company vehicle comes in 1st week of May.

Have to make a decision on my '16 to keep or not

That's why I posted this. I rally hate to get rid of a good vehicle, but not like it not replaceable. FWIW, company will let you drive personal miles. Wife and I were discussing it this morning. We're going to weigh the options. If I put it in the garage, I know what will happen, my kids...

Have to make a decision on my '16 to keep or not

That's the thing, it's not paid for. Truck was $34K in 2018, fully loaded Laramie, 2 model years old with 9400 miles and 7 yr/100,000 mile warranty. I owe about $20K on it. From what I can see it's in positive equity and seem to be holding value above what is owed. Very happy with this...

Have to make a decision on my '16 to keep or not

No, absolutely not. Trying to decide what to do. Hate to part with it, just don't need two trucks. I could just park it in the garage and let stuff get piled up on it, which is a good possibility. Was curious what other guys would do.
