Going to put the Ram to work.

Camco's "Rhino" hose... and yeah, it's awesome. The wife got squeamish about the clear plastic elbow at the dump-end (it's the eww factor), but it's perfect for knowing when you're empty. Agreed on the dealer kit though the 80 Ah battery they popped in isn't too awful bad - I still have that...

Going to put the Ram to work.

Nice! You'll def. want to give it a quick shake-down cruise for a weekend before the weather forces you to winterize it. That'll give you a chance to make sure you have everything you want/need, identify pain points to fix, and it'll give you ideas as to what you might want to add or change...

    Tow/haul

PS: the trannies run -HOT- in these things, and it's typical to see it hover around 190 degrees in summer (when under stress, like an uphill climb), even when towing a puny 4,000 lbs of travel-trailer...

    Tow/haul

3.21 gearset + the 3.6L v6 typically meant a max tow of 4410 lbs; this was the case until -very- late in Gen4, when IIRC it got bumped to 7500 lbs after some driveline improvements. I know this because my 2017 has a v6, 3.21 gears, and a listed max tow of 4410 lb. If OP has a 3.55 rear gearset...

    Factory Hitch - Weight Distribution??

It came with brakes, and I believe I need those.

    Factory Hitch - Weight Distribution??

Funny thing... I have a nice Curt WDH... and it's still in the box. I've towed quite a few hundred miles this year so far w/o it, and I do perfectly fine. I keep it around in case I find I'll be driving through a state where one is required. I should however say why... 1) I only tow 4,000...

    Stock 3.6L Off-Road Performance.

I do pretty well on even the somewhat hairy logging trails in the Pacific NW (firewood runs, hinting, goofing off, etc). No lift, and the only 'mods' I made were A/T tires, a grille guard, and nerf bars. PS: I ripped off the air dam too (intentionally, as in I unbolted it). I did it because I...

Get your actual weights! don't guess

Look around for any correction stickers. My travel trailer officially has a dry weight of 3600lbs, but I quickly found a bright yellow sticker in the door jamb that stated an updated dry weight of 3750 lbs - the change was due to some added options, e.g. the 200W solar panel and charging gear...

Towing with a 3.6L V-6 what is safe and realistic for this engine

A touch late, but... 3.6L engine, 2017 model, 3.21 gears. My max tow is a gargantuan 4400lbs. I tow around a 2022 Forest River No Boundaries model 19.2 that I bought in February, and have taken it out camping 3x so far. While the trailer has a GVWR of 4600lbs, I keep it at around 4000lbs, and...

    Tow/Haul mode not working (maybe)?

That may be part of it (I'm guessing on this one), because I know in my case, in Tow/Haul the hills make the transmission reach way down for gears (lower than they do w/o it), and linger longer before shifting up. However, in the relatively flat roads along I-5 in southern WA, they don't reach...

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

In other news, I had a great time caping up at the in-laws' place near Sequim, WA. Got 11mpg on average, which includes 70mph on I-5 and a bit slower (avg 50mph) on Hwy 101 going up the backside of the Sound. Rode as smooth as a baby's butt in spite of not using a WDH (I really have to fit that...

    Tow/Haul mode not working (maybe)?

I think it kind of depends... are you driving on primarily flat/level ground, or are there hills all over the place? I live in a mountain valley, and the owners' manual says I should keep it in Tow/Haul all the time since I drive over a lot of hills/mountains just to get groceries (err, I keep...

    Towing Mileage Comparison / Questions

I think he was referring to having 100 gallons in a tank in the bed, not in his fuel tank per se. That would come to 850-950 lbs, depending on the portable tank's tare weight.

    Towing Mileage Comparison / Questions

A new bit of data for the audience... Longview, WA to Sequim, WA (because Longview was where I reset the mpg meter thingy).... 4,000 lbs, dragged by a 2017 v6 w/ 3.21 gears netted me 11.3mpg. Did mostly 65-70mph on I-5 (half the distance) and averaged something like 50mph along US-101 (the...

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

Got the trailer back from the dealer yesterday... the front window leak is allegedly fixed; I'll test that out personally this weekend once I get the hose out. Still waiting on parts to replace the water-stained front blinds, though. I would've just left it parked at the dealership until they...

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

To be honest, the existing mattress (which is hinged so it folds) plus the Sealy memory foam topper is perfect. The bed size is full queen sized, so sheets are easy to get. The dealership got the window fixed, but is waiting on warranty authorization for the window shade that got water...

    Towing Mileage Comparison / Questions

This. I'm good with a half-ton, but my wife and I are empty nesters who are perfectly happy with our little 22' drag-along. If you have kids or think you want to go out often, then get a 2500. You will eventually need it when you inevitably go shopping for a bigger trailer.

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

So far, so good... I did find a small leak had sprung in the front window, so it will go back in for warranty work. I also had to make my dealer-supplied Stinky Slinky a bit longer (I bought a second one and a coupler.) I also have a list of things to do to make it all a little more...

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

I leave for the shakedown weekend trip this evening... even though it's just down the road (at a campground I pass almost every time I drive anywhere), it's still going to be rather neat to test everything out, make sure we have everything (it's been a few years since I had an RV of any...

...which river? The Rogue, or one of the five rivers feeding Tillamook Bay are most excellent for this (well, you'll want to wait for things to die down, since right now they're all the color of bad coffee...)
