Update on my Valve Body problem

Yeah, I've done some digging and I'm leaning towards the reverse engagement piston, which OEM comes aluminum. It sits behind the rear belt adjuster, so I can take out the VB, drop the adjustment arm and dig it out. It probably cracked with the extra grit and junk in the system, and when I...

    Why is my truck dyin?

My bad, good news, because I always hated them. Since the IAC is being changed, I'd start squirting some penetrating oil while you're doing that in case you want to change the O2 sensor.

Update on my Valve Body problem

So, if you followed the other thread, I got a code for the TCC solenoid, and I knew the tranny was going to need parts soon, so I bought the parts and sat on them for a while because I'm off for the summer. Friday and Saturday, I drained the tranny (46RE), dropped the pan, pulled the valvebody...

    Why is my truck dyin?

Speaking of such things, is the EGR on the 01/2 1500s down by the carbon canister? I noticed it when I was under looking at the transmission. Plugged emissions system like EGR and carbon canister would also do this.

    Quick help with my 46RE

Update: Went for another test drive today. This time, I went farther, getting up to 80 km/h. Everything shifts on time, when it's supposed to. More than a quarter throttle, O/D kicks in. Man 1, Man 2 work just fine. I can only idle in reverse. Giving gas does nothing. I suspect my band is...

    Quick help with my 46RE

Well, like I said I bought the damned steels and soft bits, I'm expecting a rebuild in the next 50k km. I'll get a shift corrector kit to prevent future burnup, and the park valve replacement. If I get to it. It's heavy, man! Maybe I'll see how much the shop would charge, I completely forgot...

Brown goo in radiator cap 2001 cummins

LOL peed in the radiator... Maybe got a little enthusiastic with the sandwich he was eating over while filling? It's not so weird considering the old egg in the radiator trick. Agree it looks like stop leak. If it's not hard crusty bits just flush it out? AF is cheap, flushing easy. I'd be...

What did you do to/with your second gen today?

What did I do with my RAM today? Cussed and swore, removed the valvebody, replaced a bunch of crap, got ATF+4 in my eyes, dirt in my eyes, cussed and swore some more, bled on it, came here cryin and got help from @dapepper9. Thanks again buddy!

    Quick help with my 46RE

Nevermind, I couldn't wait. Went out, popped it into man 1, moved forward just fine. Reverse? FINE. I think some crap was still floating in the VB. I'll drive it Monday, and come back crying if it craps out. My truck's an *******. *edit* I never said thank you. I never would have guessed that a...

    Quick help with my 46RE

Hah, I will. Last time I thought I had a manual, I ended up printing a 300 page parts diagram list. I never thought to try putting it in manual 1st. If it drives fine in man 1, it would be the frictions? If it does the same thing, the band?

    Quick help with my 46RE

Thanks, I thought you were going to tell me I need to replace my entire rear band. I'd have said piss on it and park it in the back yard until I can pull and rebuild the whole thing. I've got the steels frictions and soft parts, just not a jack that will go high enough. I should be OK to drive...

    Quick help with my 46RE

So, as you know, the 2002's are weird - they don't have the t40 torx and a 3/4" locknut, they have a square adjuster screw and 11/16" locknut. For it, I used a 8mm wrench and a torx on the other end of the wrench to set it to the spec as though I had the adapter. 48 inch pounds I think? Much...

    Quick help with my 46RE

Yes, and by slipping I mean hardly engaging. I think a driveway would have given me more momentum. Hell, if I hung my ass off the front of the truck and farted it would have moved faster. I didn't get to test 4th gear, but that's the situation now.

    Quick help with my 46RE

OK, I'm back. Took less than half an hour. Cold fluid yields this: 1-2 @ 30kph, NICE, 2-3 @ 50kph, REAL NICE, OD engages, plenty of smooth power. Get home after going around the block 4 or 5 times, start to back into my space, and the reverse gear doesn't want to engage. It does, but with gas...

    Quick help with my 46RE

Only did the one line when I pulled it, and it didn't have one. The other side did, but didn't want to wreck the line when it didn't want to spin so I left it alone.

    Quick help with my 46RE

Yeah, it shifts, TC stalls, engages yada yada. It's just.... funny. So, let me describe it this way: I put it in drive, step on the gas a little, it moves. Gets up to about 40-50kph (sorry, no freedom units) where a gentle acceleration would normally shift into second gear. Sometimes it does...

    97 1500 Transmission CODE p753 and p1765 HELP !

Before you go tearing into solenoids, I'd pop the electrical plug off and see if you can look at the condition of the pins. Throw some dielectric grease, clear the code and see if that helps.

Replaced power steering pump now it sounds like a Ford.

Whiny sound is usually the shaft bearing. I'd just keep an eye on the fluid color, or if you just can't stand the sound, take it back. It runs, drives, steers, as long as the fluid isn't going brown, it's working, right?

    Quick help with my 46RE

SO! New member, don't crucify for not searching (I did), but would like some general thoughts about the 46RE I just finished "fixing". Back story: Was slip shifting shortly after putting some gas station fluid in (leak in the cooler). Change the cooler. CES came on with a code for the TCC...
