Keeping it easy swaps require using a reluctor wheel the same as your current pcm. Gen 3 is 58 tooth. The good news is most if not all stroker kits can be bought with a 58 tooth reluctor. IMO, a 5.7 block with a stroker kit will give you around 6.4 displacement. Put heads, cam and bolt-on's will...
I don't go to the track often and this last year none at all. So my data is dated.. last full pass was a 11.66 and if I remember 118mph. I up the boost and and made a partial pass and ran 1.358 60'.. blew the charge pipe. Red is a street truck and doesn't have a cage so tech always watching...
HP Tuning imo is the only way to go. When custom tuning is wanted this is the way to go. I used Diablo CMR tuning and wanted flexability of fine tuning changes as I needed. The HPT downloaded the previous CMR tune making the new tune easy to work off of.
3rd gen oil pressure gauge is a idiot light that looks like a pressure gauge. If the engine has minimal oil pressure the gauge will read mid range to make the operator feel good. Look it up, but I seem to remember 6psi was the cut off were it would cause the gauge to read low and give an alert...
I have a 20 gal tank and the fill sensor set to read properly. When the low fuel light comes on I have 15 miles left if I drive very easily... around a 175 mile range.. In my case it is truely a idiot light..
That's funny I use to use the power steering switch to up my idle on the 03 pcm. I used a rpm window switch to open and close the PS switch. Back in the day big cams and 03 pcm was a bad combo. I also remember a guy did a manual trans swap and had a hanging idle. I believe he fixed it with a pcm...
The cam bearings prevented the cam shaft from rotating. This sheared the cam's alignment pin. Causing the valve timing to nolonger be correct allowing the valves to contact the pistons preventing them from opening fully bending the push rods. Hopefully the bent push rods prevented the valves...
The short story is the cam bearings need to be replaced. This requires engine removal. Most likely new cam and timing chain set. Since the engine hasn't had proper maintenance the crank and connecting rod bearings also require inspecting. You are so deep into the engine a rebuild makes the most...
Any codes? Should identify the missing cylinder. Inspect the spark plug to that cylinder. If dirty or excessive gap replace the plugs.. if miss continues, swap the coil with another cylinder and see if code follows the coil. If it does replace the coil...
MSD are red. ACCEL are yellow.. I haven't used their coils so can't evaluate their performance. 06+ dual coils eliminate the waste spark wires. Installing them require changing the electrical plug and newer valve covers. On my 03 (pro-street) I swapped to the 6.1 coils many years ago to...
Actually thinking about the pump pressure being 48psi for the 03 it would be a good argument that they are bigger than the 04+ since increasing pump pressure would increase flow requiring a smaller injector.
I would put a couple thousand miles on her and pull the plugs again to inspect.. I also suspect the coil, but a slight vacuum leak could also run the cylinder hot..
I like to keep things as simple as possible, so I chose non-skim. I would remove the skim module around the key and use a fresh 05 pcm that you know is clean and non-active. Be specific when you have your VIN installed and clearly state you want 05 pcm software with your 03 VIN. If your supplier...
If you are skim active and you want to keep the skim function then you should beable to use any 05 ram pcm that is NOT skim active. When it is plugged in it will communicate with the installed skim module and activate the pcm making it skim active. If you don't want skim active, then remove the...
