Dodge Truck Interests bordering on the 'OCD' level ~

They just don't make them like they used to! They make them crazy cost to repair, A co-worker just had to pay $8000 to get his transmission fixed in his 2500. Now he drives to work in a little Toyota in order to pay the bill. Learn to shift a 5 speed manual!

    1980 dodge power wagon 150

You should, Dodge's of any era with a manual shift is rare, take some more pictures of what it is in the bed so we can see what it is ! I don't know why they made the cut so low, unless it was necessary to fit whatever it is into the bed by tilting it to squeeze it in there. Again I'm speculating.

    1973 Parts hard to find!

No reason a truck can't last a lifetime, or a lot of other things for that matter. It is what my Dad calls " Built in Self Destruct" and planned obsolescence by discontinuing parts, especially body parts. Right to Repair laws must be implemented.

    Tranny issues

My guess is that something in the linkage was not put back together correctly. Check the shift cable and the linkage, As long as you have not dropped the valve body, you should be able to cycle the gears by hand, and move the shift lever to the right position.

    1980 dodge power wagon 150

I have never seen one like that. That appears to be a modification to me, but why was the cut made so low? It looks like either an extra fuel tank or maybe a diesel tank to add fuel to equipment. Or some other device, too hard to tell from the pic. When I enlarge the pic, there is lettering on...

    2003 Ram 1500 3.7 Heater not working!

Ok back at it again today, disconnected the heater core hoses on the water pump end, sprayed water hose into both hoses, praying into the upper hose I got some water flow out of the other but most of it backed out under the nozzle so I tried it the other way and got a trickle out of the top hose...

Where do you park your Truck?

I'm in Fla. I park mine under a particular tree in my yard, that keeps it in the shade in summer, and keeps the dew off in Florida winter.

    Your engine poll

Company has a 1500, with 5.7 hemi, it definitely has some snort. HOWEVER , there are a lot of things I don't like about the new trucks. The 318 and 360 have plenty of snort too. I think my 02 5.9 has as much as the 5.7 hemi, and is equal in economy, and less in maint costs. We spend way too...

Ever have a RAM that you regret getting rid of?

My 77 Macho SE: Of course they were not Rams in those days, they were Power Wagons. Unfortunately for it, it was when shift on the fly 4wd was first thought of. The bad part about the New process system was that the wheels with the least traction were the ones that got to spin, those that had...

2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7, Heater Not Working !!! Any Help Appreciated !!!

I'm having similar problem, along with a couple others with cooling system. When I switch from cool to heat, I don't hear anything actuate, I have not yet pulled the hoses to see if I have flow through heater core, the problem I seem to have may be a clogged heater core, and a constricted air...

    2003 Ram 1500 3.7 Heater not working!

Been a while since I've been able to get back. In the mean time I've been adding oil and water and working hours. Today I finally get opportunity to again look into this, and I find out that you have to bleed the system. There is a hex screw near the alternator where the radiator hose connects...

    2003 Ram 1500 3.7 Heater not working!

Well the other morning when I drove to work I turned the heat on and not one breath of warm air, so I check the hoses, neither was hot, nor seemed to have pressure. Before I drove back home I checked coolant level, and to my surprise, there wasn't hardly any in it. Where did it all go? No...

    Oh Crap!!! Checkyurwallet Light On

I will never understand why pickup drivers would want automatics, with exceptions of health reasons which I can understand, and maybe the wife who can't drive a stick.

    Oh Crap!!! Checkyurwallet Light On

Why are you not happy it lasted for 14 years in high temp trans fluid, electronic parts don't last for ever, it would be nice if they did... With only 91,000 miles he should be irritated, number of years is not relevant, number of miles is !

    Oh Crap!!! Checkyurwallet Light On

Thus why we need to save The Stick ! Manual transmissions have way less problems and require way less maint ! Save the Stick, Ditch the Auto !

2002 Dodge ram 1500 Auto to manual conversion

This transformation would not take a lot of time, I'm just doing it at my leisure, cleaning and painting "everything", consumes large amounts of time ! Not to mention I work 50 hours a week, and am not able to spend lots of time.

2002 Dodge ram 1500 Auto to manual conversion

I have since cut the hole in the insulation between transmission and deck, then peeled back the insulation to access the trans tunnel. It's easy, two thumb screws, gets the insulation freed and able to be peeled away temporarily. The Hole to cut is actually outlined. I removed the former auto...

clutch wear and and input shaft questions nv4500 & pics

Your welcome! For future reference, the flywheel can actually be taken to a machine shop, where they have a machine that will resurface it. Basically a grinder that grinds the surface just enough to make it smooth again! As long as your transmission is shifting and working properly, no reason...
