09-12 air intake tube swap to 13-18 tube?

Hey guys,

I've tried checking other threads on this but can't seem to find any hitters.

I got a stock air intake system for $20 from a '13+ RAM. I noticed that when compared to my '11, the air intake tubes look very different. I really like the color and look of the newer intake tube, and want to install it. This is less about performance and more about aesthetics. When I was installing it, I noticed the air intake sensor was different or at least the mounting hole is. What sensor do I need to replace mine with, or is there another way to make this work? Looks like there may be a different harness plug too? Is it too much work/effort? Pics below of what my engine bay looks like versus the newer ones.

To not over simplfly this.

Uninstall sensor,

Take off tube

Install newer tube on vehicle

Re install sensor.

Just make certain as you insert the sensor you don't break it like I did. A little grease or Vaseline is helpful.

Might need to do a wire splice to the revised IAT sensor. Follow the harness and hope there’s a common connector upstream.

Or...just use black rtv to seal up the one on the vehicle.

Thanks. I found that the there's teeth on the inlet of the new tube versus the old one. It honestly looks like a completely different sensor should be there.

Maybe, but does not have to be. The sensor will fit.

If you don't think it will suit your taste, then the new sensor is available but I believe the plug is different. At least I believe it was when I changed my 11.

Mine has been changed since around Feb 17, no problems, no codes, no issues.

Now if you can find the stock air box from an Eco Diesel, that'll improve flow as well.

I saw the post on that! Definitely want to find something used locally rather than online, unless the price is really convincing! I'm okay with stock, but better stock is preferred!

Update:

Install took about 10 minutes. Needed to drill out the keyed plastic bits in the new tube for the sensor insert. Used a 1/2" drill bit. Some lube and the original sensor slid right in. Engine bay looks much better now!
