Looking at the website for Maxtrac, and the 4.5" spindle lift says that you need at least a 17" wheel, with a maximum 5.5" backspacing.

Now, I have the cheap stock 17's that came on the Tradesman model trucks, and I'm not looking to dump $3k+ at once in the lift/tires/wheels. So I was hoping to stay with the stick wheels the first time around (I like meaty tires on 17's anyways versus 20's). I haven't checked it myself, but I swear that I saw the stock 17's have a 5.5" back spacing...which SHOULD work with the spindle lift...right?

Has anyone pulled this off with the stock 17's? Or does everyone have the stock 20's or buy new wheels when they get their new lift on?

I wish I had only had to dump 3000 into rims, tires, lift. my tires were 2000! can't belive manufactures are still putting 17s on trucks...call max trac, if they don't clear you can always toss on some cheap spacers

Thought I would chime in and help out here... The stock 17's, 18's & 20's will work with our spindles and/or 7" kit just fine. As long as the tires are 12.50 or narrower you are good to go. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! -- Sean

Awesome, thank you sir.

Yeah I'm trying to just get new tires when I get the lift (dad and I are going to have some bonding time putting it on haha), and just do new wheels after I wear out the first new set of tires.

And I personally like 17s with 35" tires, I like having some meat on the sidewall...definitely not a fan of 20's with 35" tires, just looks kind of weird to me when you put an off road tire on flashy 20" wheels.
