Wider wheels vs clearance?

2023 RAM 3500 6.7L H.O. AISEN LARAMIE 4X4 CC DUALLY LB looking to go wider tires. On dealer stock Nexen junk tires, time for new. Want to install wider tires without using spacers on the rears & no lift/level kit installed. Have heard 245/80/17's also heard 255/80/17's will clear without rub. Can anyone please advise which is accurate??? Thanks Rhumphers9a.

Be sure to maintain proper spacing between the duals so they don’t rub each other.

Why not take it to a tire shop? If what they recommend does not work then they will make the adjustment.

Thanks that's what I'm asking to be sure they don't rub & will clear each other, without having any spacers!!!

Because they push to sell you different wheels or don't like to go oversize width wise on a stock wheel size which is 17"×6.5" stock aluminum anodized black nite edition wheels.

I'm pretty sure that making a sale overrides what they "like". You're the customer with the cash, you set the terms. There are lots and lots of tire shops out there.

IF you own a measuring tape it is pretty easy to know what will work and what won't. How much space to you have now between the duals. One inch is 25.4 MM so 255 is 10" wide, 275 is 10.8" wide. A one inch wider tire adds 1/2" to each side of the rim. There is a limit to how wide a tire you can mount on a stock 6.5" rim.
