Hey guys,

I've recently installed a 2014 8hp70 from a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 eco diesel into a 1996 2500 2wd 5.9 magnum with 3.55 gears.

I'm looking for someone who writes tunes for these things for a living. Ideally a street tune and a heavy duty 8800lb towing tune.

Thank you for your time guys
Steve

5.9 magnum with the 8 speed would be my combo of choice.
Did you get it working? How did you do it with the computers?

Problem is the engine likely won't start with that flexplate. It's a completely different trigger than the PCM uses. TCM tuning depends on whether email tunes can be loaded onto it or not. You may have to take it somewhere if email tunes can't be loaded

It does start because it has the flex plate sandwiched in the factory position. The adapter plate only works as an adapter to the torque converter adapter but also holds the ring gear in the factory position.

In these better pics it shows the factory external balanced flex plate sorry mate

Ohhhh I see now. That’s cool as hell man. What did you go with for a TCM? Like is that Sound German piece based on a stock TCM or is it a total standalone thing running its own proprietary control system?

Haha cheers mate. Yeah went for the Sound German standalone TCM. It allowed me to pull the stock tune from the transmission through HP Tuners.. but looks like it is only a gateway to provide inputs to the transmission like RPM etc for torque tables.
In hindsight, something like HTG self learning would be "easier", but I don't like self learning or want to modify the internal transmission chipset with the wires / soldering job they all recommended.

It was pretty simple to wire it in. Just tapped into 5 wires that went to the TCM and it's good to go (finalising the correct tune though)

So if you’re able to tune that trans then through HPTuners, my recommendation would be to get ahold of Ryan Hogan of FRPTuning. The man is a wizard with tuning and is quite frankly the only Mopar guy I would trust. He can get that 360 a solid tune at the same time and you’ll have yourself a crazy combo

Legend thank you! I currently have googled for mobs that can tune the trans with no luck. I'll get a hold of him now. Thanks mate

Would you be kind enough to tell me what torque converter/flex plate you're using? Im doing this swap on a 99 Sport and would love more info.

@Shorrty I figure it’s worth a shot but where did you source the parts to mount the 8HP to the magnum?

Building a 408 and am keen on doing the same.
