2004 ram 1500 motor swap

I recently had my 04 5.7 motor go bad. It has the egr valve, Im looking at an 07 donor engine from another 1500. Im aware that this new one has the mds, but I read somewhere that it will work fine so long as I don’t touch it. Is this true

Yes, it will work just leave everything in place. Default mechanical position for MDS is off so with nothing to activate it'll be fine. You'll more than likely need to swap your 2004 sensors over to account for harness variations.
