Hello, everyone. And thank you for allowing me to join the group.
I have a 2005 dodge ram 2500 4wd 5.7 Hemi.
I was driving and hit the gas to around someone and heard a bang from under my seat and then within a few hundred feet lost movement. Runs great and rolls but no gears.
Had it towed an ran on scanner on it and codes P0715 and P0720 showed up.
I replaced the speed sensor and still no good. I checked the trans fluid and all is good. I can hear the trans or something clicking when going into park and truck can roll freely when in gear or reverse.
When I turn the engine off I hear a wining or light grinding noise coming from the front of trans area. I put it in 4wd and no movement but can hear solenoids clicking and sounds like it's engaging but it doesn't. Before this incident Sometimes if the trucks sits for a few days and I start and try to take off it was acting like trans or torque converter was slipping.
Any help please?
Thank you
AL

I would set the parking brake, have someone sit in the truck and hold the brake peda,l start the engine and put it in gear and lay underneath the truck and see if the driveshaft is spinning.

If the rear driveshaft is spinning the failure is not in the transmission but instead the rear axle.

Can you connect the scan tool and read the CVI's post your findings?

What happens when you move the shift lever to the 2nd position or down to 1st gear?

Does the truck move or make any different noises?

The codes were P0715 and P0720
Drive shafts do not move. You can push and roll the truck when in gear. Shifter is working and moving. When i was underneath the truck my wife turned it off and I heard a type wining grinding noise in front of transmission.
