When did you buy it and what is the mileage? And you bought from a registered legit dealer correct?

Just purchased as in "days ago"? I would be calling the slime bag who sold it to you to give him a chance, then lawyer man.

Its hard to accept that after the sale, too bad you didn't find that out before signing though.

Under the "Lemon Law" a dealer must cover the drive train for 30 days from date of sale. When I bought my used 07 the tone ring in the rear diff. was damaged so the dealer paid for the tear down, fix, and reassembly of the diff. to get it right. Didn't cost me other than being without my truck for a week.

Lemon laws apply to new vehicles not used. It sucks that you are in this position, but a quick look over from a qualified mechanic would have saved you this hassle..
I'm confused by this " now throwing rods " can you elaborate on that?

Dang that sucks. Might have to bite the bullet and get a new motor. I would threaten the Stealership with a lawsuit to get them to at least pay for half the new motor, if not the whole thing.

Was it bought off a dealership lot, a sales lot, or a private sale? If it's a private sale they are 'as-is' sales and you're on the hook, if it's a sales lot then they need to make sure it's safe to drive or report any servicing required but only if requested, if it's a dealership then they should have it 100% mechanically gtg.

At this point I would just go with a junk yard engine, if it's just the powerplant that's the issue then it's a simple enough fix, but will cost a bit of extra $$.

I bought a lemon once. Drove it off the lot and the check engine light came on. Took it back and they cleared the code telling me it was the gas cap (liars). It was the transmission. Blind luck I took it to a dealership where it had been worked on previously and they had all the paperwork on it. This second transmission was still under warranty and after many calls to DC I got it covered. If I were you I'd stand in front of the dealership with a big sign that says " I bought a lemon" and then see if they are willing to help you out. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

Either get a new motor, or a remanufactured one. Rebuilt ones, in my experience, are not t be trusted. Might be able to save some of the parts off the old motor so a short bock might be the way to go. It depends upon how badly damaged the current engine is.

I have a Triplet motor with around 57k on the clock. Came with a 3yr/100k mile warranty. Runs like a ***** ape.

Get a Hemi. The tranny used for both the 4.7 and the hemi were the same in most cases. Do a bit of research on the tranny you have equipped and see if it was used with the Hemi. If it was then a hemi should be in your future. Be aware though, you will need to replace the radiator, and a few other parts that will not be up too snuff with a hemi. If you just want a straight replacement then go with a 4.7l. They can be strong motors if taken care of like any out there. Plus the gas mileage for a 4.7 is a bit better than the hemi.

Not sure about installing a 4th gen engine in a 3rd gen truck. Go with a 3rd gen engine if you can. Here is a site that offers the older HO 4.7l: 4.7 Liter Dodge High Output - Magnum Engine | Remanufactured Engines | Accurate Engines

And the price they are offering it at is real good. Just remember though. You may have to use some parts off the old motor to finish the install. Mainly: valve covers, water pump some other covers, AC compressor, power steering pump, and a few other parts. ANY part that you have to reuse make sure it is clean and functional (water pump is recommended you get a NEW one), you do not want to destroy your new motor with parts that are bad or contaminated.
Plus to the rice of the motor add a bit for installation and parts that cannot be reused from the older motor.

Be sure that you use a repairman that knows what he is doing when replacing the motor. Plus make sure you get the labor warranteed.
