So I was just on your site about to purchase a 2" spacer/level for my 2007 Ram 1500 4x4 (non mega) and it says to get the 2008+ kit if I plan to purchase new struts. I recently purchased a set of bilstein struts for my 2007. Why do I need the 2008+ kit?

I'm sure HBS will have an answer, but here's the answer I got when I was looking at a kit for my '10.

In mid 08, Dodge removed a "plate" on top of the strut. The newer HBS kits come with that spacer plate (or one that replicates it). By the way, NO other leveling company seemed to even know there was a difference in the 08.5+ Rams.

This answer is exactly correct and true for the OEM struts. (It is nice to be part of such a well educated forum.) I am not certain if Bilstein made the same change as Dodge. However, the plates that are included in the 08+ kits do not have to be used if they are not needed. So order the 2008 + 2" Dodge Ram leveling kit and leave the plates off if you don't need them. The installation instructions have pictures that clearly illustrate whether the plates are necessary or not. You can preview the instructions on our website.

Thank you for the questions. We are happy to hear from customers, or potential customers, and welcome any questions or comments.

Yes, we are in the works of creating a coupon code for Ram Forum members. If you can hold off on ordering until tomorrow we should have all the details ironed out.

What is the actual height of the 2.5" HBS spacer? I am trying to replace the ridiculous 5"(?) spacer that came in my procomp kit with a combination of bilstein leveling strut and a shorter spacer. because the geometry is changed due to new knuckles, it's hard to calculate what size spacer will be needed with the leveling struts. Can you guys make a custom spacer, or is it just what's on the web?

Sorry for all the questions over a simple spacer. There is really no where to turn to for this kind of information.

The actual height of the 08-11 Dodge Ram 1500 2.5" spacer (PN: 125-250-001) is 1-3/8". On a stock OEM application that will produce 2.5" of lift. However, the Bilstein leveling strut will have an affect in the actual amount of lift you will get. Our 08-11 Dodge Ram 1500 2" leveling spacer (PN: 125-200-001) measures 1-1/4". We have done custom sizes in the past but it is getting harder to squeeze them into the production schedule and it becomes cost prohibitive. We do offer a satisfaction guarantee so if you order the kit and decide it's not going to work. you can return it according to our standard return policy.
