Happy thanksgiving, I am going to check out an 08 crew cab 1500 with the 4.7/6spd combo 98k miles. I used to have an 03 with the 4.7 and while it wasn't a hemi it was fine for most things. This truck will be a daily commuter (50+ miles) and occasional hauler. How is the 6spd? Anything to watch out for on it? I know the front suspension is different than my 03 was, looks like I can level it with a spacer kit (I hate the factory rake). Anything else different on the 08s? 4.7 head gasket issues still? Looks like they make more power than the 03s.

08+ 4.7 is quite different than your 03. Revised, top end, etc put it at 310hp. I haven't really heard of failures with the newer style cylinder head.

I have an 06 quad cab 4X4 with this combination ,it has alot of power through the first 4 gears , 5th and 6th are good on a straight away or down hill. I added tbi spacer and cold air intake , but 06 only has 185 hp to begin with ,My motor with the old style heads can't put out 310 hp.. I went from 265/70/17 to 285 /70/17 it has 3.55's at 80MPH its about 2,400 RPM. On my suspension , I put spacers and new 5.7 coil springs and bilstein 5100 struts and an add a leaf in the rear for towing. One problem with spacers I cannot find a drop bracket for the sway bar , went to greasable links and they still snap off. After 30,000 miles Bilsteins are blown out , thought steering rack was but all of oil blew out of struts.Rough country makes a lift strut that doesn't require spacers,I am waiting for a reply from them to see what need to change my struts out. It's not a hemi , but an ECO-BOOST needs both turbo's to play with her.

The 06 was rated at 235hp, unless you mean to the wheels. Get rid of the TB spacer (unless that's the only way the CAI attaches). An old style head can be made to put out that kind of power, but usually requires a decent amount of money and forced induction.
