I see on the youtubes I can convert my mechanical clutch cooling fan to an electronic cooling fan setup by purchasing a 09-12 "V6" cooling fan setup. What all is exactly needed to make this swap happen and is it really a simple plug and play type install as the videos on youtube show it to be? Looks like there is even a factory harness the v6 fan setup plugs right into.... Nothing can be this easy?! If someone could please be kind enough to show me the parts needed so i can order them, id be extremely grateful. Thank you!

Why tinker with one of the most important thingies for your engine life?
Belts can break and electric fans can have electrical issues, but i consider regularly changed belts as much safer.

if your going to do the swap i suggest having a tuner (jay greene or hemifever)... when i did mine i removed the upper and lower shrouds pulled the clutch fan off(reverse thread) and then you pull the ac condensor out and replace it with the v6 efan... i used the TYC fan and its worked perfect... i had a minor issue buying through rock auto that one of the mounts was broken but they replaced it for free and let me keep the broken one... easy fix with some gorilla glue.. anyways id also recommend doing the 180degree thermostat if you are doing the efan... i believe you can just leave it and leave the stock tune and just run the fan. its just less rotational mass on the belt drive. I did mine with the lower t stat and have been happy. Throttle will also feel slightly free'd up as well. https://www.amazon.com/TYC-622320-Replacement-Cooling-Assembly/dp/B0054RMKZC

I did this swap in my buddies 2009. His was plug and play and a very simple install. I highly recommend this mod. I haven't done mine yet because I don't have a tuner but it is on my list.

The stock tune will run the fan but the temperatures will be really strange. It won't kick on until you are at like 217-220 degrees. Some others have suggested that if you are not tuned, you should drive it with defrost on in the winter or ac on in the summer. That should run the fan all the time or at least much more often.

The 180 t-stat is a great suggestion too. Mine runs much cooler now but it does take a little more time to warm up on cold days.

That one will work.

Custom tuning is a night and day difference over the canned stock tunes that thing comes with. I would not get a tuner without going with hemi fever or some dyno tuning from a reputable shop.

Little update: I have the Diablo Tuner i3 tuner coming, the efan from above link, 180f t-stat and gasket.... So i should be ready to perform this install as soon as the parts arrive. 2 questions please:

1. Where is the factory plug located at that I plug this new fan into?
2. I know im going to remove the fan clutch setup, but is there another e-fan on the condensor too that i remove? TBH, I havent looked to see if I have an a/c e-fan... In otherwords, what else am I removing from truck other then fan on water pump?

Thanks

FOLLOWING!!! I had been thinking about this mod. Now recently I took a branch up into my lower shroud and water pump fan, breaking the tip of one of the blades, balance gone, thinking of this swap. Keep us updated. I have a 2015 Hemi.

2012 5.7 here as well. How did this go?
It's not going to cure your overheating issue,as it doesn't pull anywhere near the same amount of air as the mechanical fan and shroud pull.
