DRLs are required in Canada, and after I did the conversion to the 2013 projector headlamps on my 2009 I was still stuck with the low powered high beam circuit instead of the cool LED DRLs on the '13+ models. I tried several ways to make the circuit work but was unable to get the factory LEDs to work the way I wanted them to.

I decided to install separate SMDs and tie them in competely independently of the factory LED system.

Here's the finished installation.

This is the function with the turn signal, the part that was the biggest headache with getting the factory LEDs to work properly as a DRL. And I can never get youtube videos to embed on here properly, just follow the link.

Those look sick. NICE.

I love the OEM projector headlight assemblies, especially for those LEDs. Wish i had that know-how so i could change out my DRL/turns to LED.

I've had a few of these LED boards sitting here for months..........waiting for me to have some time to screw with them. And.........I came to the same thoughts as you - screw it, put more LEDs in there. LOL

So, did you disable the parking lights on them? Or are the whites DRL only? I think they are staying on when the blinkers are on, right?

I had gone so far as to look for smd LEDs to replace the oem ones on the board and fab a second circuit so it could alternate from DRL to turn signal, but it was looking to cost $400 to do it, kinda said screw that.

Parking lights have not been disabled, they still activate and the amber overcomes the white, just like the turn signal does. The white are a complete ignition-on system so yes they are still active during the turn signal but the amber smds are about 3 times more powerful so it's not an issue.

If I was to do it again I'd add 2 per reflector to make them brighter, but there's barely any room as it is.

my assumptions! Great job man, one of these days I'm going to do some testing on mine........to hopefully get a full on switchback for these f'ers......but every time I think about it 6 headlight orders come in (such a horrible problem to have, I know........) ;)

come to think of it.........how'd you disable the DRL?

Ditto!

I've got a pair of these on the way from J for my 10'
and have been wondering how to get them to work, or at least "look" like they do on the 13's/14's with minimal effort.
...and definitely without cracking them open (f' that!)

I think trying to re-direct the dt running lamp signal from the low voltage
high beam to the LED turn signal/park lights is too complicated to do with resistors and relays
due to the way Dodge sets up the Canuck Quads to shut off the Left or Right daytime running light only
on the side that the signal indicator is flashing on when you're signalling for a turn. (Conflict of issue when converted to 13' style PJ's)

I do know you can disable the DRLS with just one click of the e-brake :naughty:
...so there must be a wire in that harness you can trigger without actually engaging the brake.
(this would turn off the low voltage high beam bulb, but it's still usable as a high beam when you click the high's on)

...no warning buzzer/chime, just a little red light (!) on the dash.

Then I'll just turn my park lights on :favorites13:

It should look and operate just like the 13' PJ's in the Canadian Rams
...other than the tail lights will be on too.

I just have to remember to turn my park lights on.
