What will "plug and play" with a 2013 crew cab 4x4 hemi truck? Want to retain factory key fob. Any experience purchasing and installing??

I bought a used Fortin EVO CHRT4 on eBay. Plug and play, took less than 10 mins to wire up and clean up. It retains the factory key fob. Been six months and no issues. It was a steal for $37 already flashed. They sell them new on Amazon. Just make sure the seller can flash the module for your Ram.

2013+ you have to flash it yourself, at least for DEI products. i would imagine it would be the same for other brands as well. its pretty much plug and play but theres a two step flashing process. you flash the module with the settings you want, connect it to the truck, the disconnect it and hook it up to to your computer to finalize the flash then reconnect to your truck. it cannot be shipped flashed for your truck like previous years.

it sounds more complicated then it really is. its very straightforward. if you purchase from doug on ebay his instructions are very detailed.

Smart Start Remote Start

I had smart start installed on both the rams I drive (2011 3500, 2014 1500) Its awesome @ $300 per truck. Here is why I got the smart start and pay yearly for the service.
1. It tracks the trucks via GPS so I know when they're moved, a Geofence can be set up when they leave and enter the driveway. Great peace of mind if your in a high crime area.
2. Notifications can be set up for the geofence and or speed limit infractions email and text. (I haven't used the speeding nanny)
3. I can lock, unlock, panic, Start/Stop, as well as see the state of those things via the phone app anywhere in the country. (If its locked, running, doors open, hood open I can see those things via the app.)
4. I have schedules set-up so I can start my truck automatically based on environmental factors.
5. I can find my truck anywhere I park it. EXTREMELY helpful during concerts or large events.
Not everyone needs those things. But I travel for long periods of time so I start both the trucks at least once a week when I'm out of town. Also since I'm in the Midwest the winters are brutal. In the winter I put the truck I'm gonna be driving that week on a schedule to start at a time I see fit (30 Min before my departure time) and when the temp outside is too low for me (40F.) This allows me to step into an already warmed up truck. I do this everytime I'm working, staying in a hotel and it's freezing outside especially for the diesel.
Just my two cents. I definitely recommend for the Northern folk and the travelers. There nothing like starting your truck from your hotel room and know it'll be warm when you get there.

Chris what was the part numbers of your remote start. Is it a DBALL2 with DSM250?

I have no idea which they used. Way over my head to even think about doing it myself. Dropped it off, picked it up, $300 later I had remote start from my phone.

Chris, how much is the yearly fee for that service your using?

I do not remember what I pay for it a year. I think I bought three years upfront. I THINK IT worked out to $7 a month. I think. Well worth it to me since I use it everyday during the winter.
