2013 Sport Rear End

I was looking today and I found a real good deal on a 2013 Sport 4x4. I was going over the window sticker (on the dealer's website) and it said it had a 3.21 in it. I didn't even know that you could get a ram with anything less than a 3.55. Does this sound right to you all? I thought the only options for the Sport was the 3.55 and 3.92

Any info on how that 3.21 is? Acceleration, towing, etc. If I got it, I'd eventually put 35s under it and I don't know how that 3.21 would pull 35s

3.21 is not a desirable gear for pulling or big tires! its pretty much a highway gear. I don't know much about how it performs in the 8 speed, I'm sure someone with that set up will chime in soon

Yeah, I have a 3.55 now, but I have the 6 speed tranny. I'm really wanting a 3.92

The 3.92 is only $95 as an option for the 8spd. If you're concerned about mileage I don't know why you'd buy a truck in the first place. For optimum towing and acceleration of a 6,000+lb truck (you said CC 4x4, right?) just be a big boy and visit the Ram's 2nd home (gas station) a touch more often.

I'm not concerned about gas. I'm wanting a 3.92 rear end, but I'm also looking at the left over 13s because I can get a way better deal. Can't find a good deal anywhere near me on a 13 that has higher than 3.55.

3.55 with the 8 speed I'll bet performs equal to or better than 3.92 with a 6 speed.
That 8 speed has some nasty low gear ratios.

Using Ramtruck.ca (Canada) there is only the base 3.21 or optional 3.92 with the 8spd. If the 3.55 were available I agree it would far pretty well.

I know if you go online to ramtrucks.com and build one, it doesn't even have the option of a 3.21. It only has the options of 3.55 or 3.92. Why must Chrysler make things so complicated? If they only make it one way, why can you build it another?
Edit: just took another look online and it's the 2014 sport that has the available 3.21 or 3.92. The 2013 is only 3.55 and 3.92. Why then would the dealer have a 2013 Sport with 3.21 gears?

If you want 392 gears, I have em and love em, then make it part of the deal that the service department swap in 392's for the 321's. As others have said, towing and big tires will not do well with the current 321's...

Like Unbroken said, I'd be comfortable with 3.55s in an 8spd.

I'm working with the salesman via email and he said he wouldn't do the swap so he's just trying to find a truck that already has the 3.92 gears in it. If he can't find one, then I'm not trading.. Can't deal with 3.21 gears

I had the same problem also took me weeks and 350miles one way to find a sport 8 speed that did not have 3.21 gears ended up with 3.55 and they are great.

Plus, he was calling me Eric and Gordon in the emails.. I have no idea where he came up with Eric! There was one emails where it started with "dear Gordon" and closed with "let me know, Eric"

Only bad thing is, I probably won't be able to find another truck marked down this low, so I'd say it'll be a while longer before I can trade..

what was the MSRP and what was it marked down to? Dealers want to get 13s off there lots I got mine for over 10k off
