Had it since new. Tow a boat occasionally once a month. Not super heavy maybe 5-6k pounds 120 mile round trip.
I’ve asked the dealer and other shops if I should change the fluid multiple times in the past. The dealer said they don’t recommend it the other shops all said only do it around 60k but since it was never done recommended not doing it unless there was an issue. Shudder showed up and I did it. Other than the trans fluid I’m actually really good about all the other maintenance just trusted the dealer….
Yeah, it's wild how Chrysler says sealed for life, but ZF recommends 60k miles and less if severe duty.

Seems like you did well and the service was just what it needed. Great job getting it done.

I called my dealer to have them do it, twice. They never returned my call, twice. So, I did it myself, thanks to the members here.

And I was fully prepared to pay them to do it.

Their loss, my gain.

Dealer goes by the BS Stellentis feeds them, not by what ZF says. Always take what a dealer tells you in regards to servicing/maintaining your truck with a "big" grain of salt.
ZF says service the transmission between 50,000 to 80,000 miles,or every 8 years, which ever comes first.
The dealer will also tell you it's a sealed transmission which is another line of BS,the transmissions aren't sealed they still vent to the atmosphere,if they were actually sealed, they'd blow the seals as soon as the transmission warmed up.

That fluid does look horrible, it would be a really good idea to repeat the process. I bet your time will improve by at least a half an hour on your next service.
You also dont need to drop the pan to do your second drain and fill so that helps the process a ton.

How has it been driving since the change? I am about to do mine at higher mileage and don’t want to create problems
