2017 Ram 1500 4x4 Trailer brake? Which one

Looking for a breaking control as my Ram does not have the breaking system in the cab. Just that unit. It is already wired and has a hitch. The trailer is a 24 foot tandem axle weighing in at approximately 5200 lbs. I have been looking around (typically EBay) and see them there priced from 60 to 250 bucks... a little help? Does the truck need to be programed for it or is it plug and play?

The OEM trailer brake controller needs to be programmed. Some people have the dealership do this or you can do it yourself with AlfaOBD

I put a Tekonsha P3 in my 2017 1500. Loved that brake controller. Plug and play with the adapter cable, no programming needed.
