If you're still looking for an engine, theres a couple new take outs for sale in Alberta Tammy.

Thank you so much!! That is still a bit far for me but I will definetly take a look. At the very least it's more info for my local dealer to go on. not much out here in Atlantic Canada lol. I was given a number to call by ramcares (seems they are US based as well) Hopefully will get through to someone soon.

if you are asking me re: eco diesel, it was just knocking.

What is the usual issue on these diesels? Do you think it's just a rod bearing? Maybe it's worth rebuilding??

Sorry, I don't enough about the ecodiesel issues.

I don't know what it'd cost to ship one on a pallet to Alantic Canada, but it might be worth checking out though.

Motors are built in Italy. QC is not great and the crank journals are too narrow resulting in crank flex under high torque low rpm’s. When the crankshaft flexes it rips the crank bearings and boom. Life sucks. I traded a 2016 hemi for a 2016 eco diesel a few years ago primarily due to better fuel economy. Granted I had no problems with my eco I traded back to a 2016 hemi due to the high eco diesel failure rates. I replaced the intake manifold at 55k miles on the eco due to being filled with soot. I’ll look for a picture and post it up shortly. I was shocked at how much soot had collected. The eco diesel drove like a Cadillac, provided great fuel mileage and had great low end torque for towing. After reading about so many crank failures, EGR coolant leaks, fires and fuel pump issues I had to convince the wife I didn’t do my due diligence in researching the eco and wanted back in a 1500 with the Hemi. it was a tough sell since she was not on board with the original trade but all is good now . Love my high mileage no tick hemi.
ALL ABOVE, the reason I got rid of my GEN II 2015 ED at a lil over 10K miles and got Hemi. Did not want to do that dance. And when the CARB lawsuit got done, and they were "reflashing" the ECM's etc, just wasn't going there. Mine was great, ran great, great low end TQ, and my only problem was the lag in acceleration (almost killed me one time pulling out of , all places parking lot funeral home) (that truck after that incident was gone in a week). BUT why I jumped. The GEN II's were known for spinning mains and crank issues on the bottom, something about bad QC at the plant in Italy and bad parts put in. Sound Familiar? GM? lol.

All above IMHO.

If that's the case, if a guy is going to change the engine, wouldn't it make a heck of a lot more sense to tip it over, get the crank re-done and toss in some new bearings ...New seals and head gaskets?? I mean rather than buy a used engine which might run into the same issue. Then yer starting over on the bearings. Get another 100k out of it..maybe double that, since you know they're done 'right'. If it was me, that's what I'd do. (hopefully you have something else to drive in the meantime.)

I think that is the route I am leaning towards, rebuidling. Waiting for some answers from the shop as I don't know much about the issues either ;)
