Just did the install of the light and harness to my 2018 RAM Hydro Blue 4x4 Sport Edition.
The cut out in the hood liner and the power connection were already in place. I removed only one of the hood liner trim clips from the hood liner to allow it to be flexed out of the way to run the wiring harness under the liner. The liner also has a larger liner tab section that must be flexed to allow the liner to move away from the hood.
The new harness is an exacting fit to the install, in that you should not have to alter the location of the attachment clips on the harness to make it fit correctly. I would advise that you ensure you get the wiring harness run correctly oriented (the right connector to the right end of the run) before you commit to popping the attachment clips into the holes in your hood...getting the clips out of those holes could be a pain to attempt without possibly breaking a attachemt clip.
For those with the factory power supply connection on the left side, near the firewall, under the hood: To remove the protective cover plug from the power socket you simply slide the red locking cover to the right end of the connector...then push straight down on the exposed black push button device....the cover plug simply slides out having done this.
The lamp: It comes with out an attachment clip so you must source one of these yourself. I believe the size required is a 1/4 inch diameter unit. The lamps base must be folded over once you insert the attachment clip through the provided hole. The base then snaps into the lamp housing. You can then attach the wiring harness to the lamp (slide the red locking unit toward the lamp to lock) and push the complete assembly into the hood location holes. The lamp indexes into the hood location with 1) the attachment clip and 2) a slot in the hood and tab on the lamp. As my install was done in winter temps, I did the fold over move in the house while the lamp housing was at room temperature to ensure the base did not depart the lamp housing.
I have a trim tool which made popping that single hood liner clip out of its home easy. I did not break it so reused it.
