I may be puchasing my first 5th gen new body style Ram this weekend and selling my 2014. I have only really ever worked on 3rd gen and 4th gens I dont know to much about the 5th gens and their issues. It is a 2019 1500 5.7 big horn with a slipping 8 speed trans and some other minor issues. I can get a transmission cheap ish using my dealership and put it in myself not worried about that. This is a NON etorque truck took a while to find one... What are some know issues with 2019s? Anything I should be looking for minus the trans issue?. Also I know to disable MDS I need to send out the ECM This is something I would need to do as It would drive me crazy what service/company do you guys normally use?

My 2014 has the 8 speed already yea I know the downside is a locked ECM thats why I was wondering what everyone does.

Its a very good deal It is well under $10k I been wanting to upgrade to the new body style. It has 160k The body and interior look spotless I have yet to drive it for all I know its a valve body or something but I see used low mile 8 speeds in the junk yard for only $600 so not really a big deal for me.

I had a 2019 Bighorn, Hemi non E-torque for 5 years, bought new. My only complaint was the Air Conditioning was weak. It never felt really cold. The dealer said everything was in spec. There are many threads about this, with some remedies and fixes. The AC in our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee is ice cold for comparison, and it has never been serviced or recharged.

There have been a lot of complaints of water leaks, from the firewall due to a faulty weld or caulking, and at the rear window and/or third brake light. I never had any leaks on mine, and it sat outside 90% of the time. I will note I only ever opened the rear slider once, to test it when it was new. Maybe that helped prevent a leak, I don't really know.

Other than that, the truck was flawless, it never broke down, ran great, and I never even had as much as a light bulb go out.

Thanks for the info!.

Ya wanna know why your a/c sucks? I did this mod on my 2014 because the a/c sucked this is highly controversial and NO shop will do this for you so its a DIY at your own risk situation. I recovered the 1234yf and re charged using adapters from amazon with r134a Its been 50k miles and 3 years ICE cold no damage to the system.

You will need HP tuners and send off your ECU to get unlocked.
