I've had my truck for about 2 years now with exterior and interior mods but haven't done anything to the engine yet! Anyone recommend any good brands K&N, spectre, Volant? I do like the spectre at 150 with chrome neck and red filter to match my truck
It is a 4.7 V8 2002 by the way

I just bought a spectre for my 4.7l ill let you know how it runs when I install it the first week of march! I got the blue filter but yeah the 150 sounded real nice and the polished stainless would match the chrome on the outside of my truck

I've heard some in places that the ones with the chrome neck, can gain less horsepower since it gets hot quickly, does anyone have a specific model they are particularly happy with?

If you get the spectre CAI get a better filter for. Thier filters suck. I have the spectre intake powder coated to match the truck. With a K&N filter.

Wow yeah that is nice. Did you take it into a shop to get it painted?

Anyone have any experience with the Volant intakes? Love the way those look and how they draw air above or below the engine

A better flowing filter and a smooth plastic tube to replace the resonator hat. That should be all you really need and its less than $200.
You keep your current filter housing but eliminate all the turbulence from the flexible tubes and the 4.7L intake resonator hat. You keep a closed air intake so no tooth rattling roar at WOT.

I had the K&N on my 4.7L Durango and you couldn't have a conversatin or hear your music under load, so I do not recommend the open style CAIs like aFe, K&N, Airaid, or Spectre. The tube and filter however avoid my primary complaint.

Ordered it from 3rdstrike like that.

At this point I have no idea. Lol. I had a K&N FIPK kit on before this one. I didn't notice any dif in the 2. I assume because its still a K&N filter.

Well getting my A/C fixed is gonna cost more than expected as usual so, I may have to pass on the CAI for now. From reviews and inputs I've heard here and elsewhere I think I'm ping to go with the K&N, if I have enough extra money I will definitely post up a pic.
