I have an 05 Ram 2500. I want to put beefier tires on it, even tho its only 2wd. I have regular street tires and to me they just look silly on such a big truck. Looking for recommendations for tires. I will also get a leveling kit if needed to fit bigger tires. It's hard finding beefy tires with a 17" rim diameter that also are load range E. Any help is greatly appreciated.

OEM for that truck should be similar to my truck 265/70/17s.. they fill the wells descently IMHO. What's on there now?

OEM is 245 but I've also got 265. It's got some wranglers of sorts on the back that are a little knobby and on front I've got some cheap Walmart tires I bought to pass the safety inspection. Lookin for something to help compensate for lack of 4wd. The street tires that are on front probably couldn't get out of a puddle. Not too concerned about money, but also don't want to spend a fortune on off road tires on a 2wd truck, ya know?

An LSD and some decent tires would help with your dilemma.

I've been VERY happy with my Hankook tires...

I have the Dynapro ATM's. Welcome to Hankook Tire International Website

Quiet on the road, but offer decent traction in the sloppy stuff. They also don't break the bank.

Hankook are OEM on many Ford vehicles.

I've been pretty happy with my Nitto TG's since I bought them last summer. We've done some mild offroading and they hooked up well. Granted, when I leave the pavement I turn on 4x4.

I bought them to replace a set of BFG tires that were litterally falling apart after less than 20,000kms.. so realistically you'll get a 'stay the hell away from BFG/related companies (Michellen)' from me...

I've never had Hankook on my truck but the company I work for uses Ford trucks with them on... they seem to work well... I've never had a chance to use them on anything more than a F150 though.
