2019 Ram Classic 3.6L V-6 VVT. Just replaced water pump, thermostat, radiator, hoses and belt. What should be the normal coolant temp? I have hit as high as 228 after repairs. But normally under 220z

that seems pretty warm. What temp is the thermostat? Shouldn’t be 35-40 degrees above that under normal conditions. Especially if it’s winter where you are. If it helps the 5.7 in mine runs 205 ish normally.

It’s a 194 deg
Did you check the thermostat to make sure it was working properly before you installed it.These days the odds of getting a bad "new" thermostat seem to be higher then the odds of getting a good one.For $h!ts and giggles you might want to pull it,and check it.Pot of water on the stove, and a meat thermometer are all you need to check it.

^ ^ ^ it stinks but cheap next step in diagnostic. You flushed coolant as well when you did all that too? Assuming there wasn’t anything unusual coming out? How many miles on this 4 year old truck and what triggered such extensive cooling system work?

pinholes in the factory radiator. Read other forums that said water pump and thermostat would also go. Hoses and belt because it has 94K

Mine will get to that temp when pulling a long, steep hill, or during a lengthy idle. I don't like it one bit, but that's how it's designed.

I have seen 228 a few times.
