Hi guys,

looking to get a 3rd gen 2500, decided to go with the 5.7 hemi. I'm going to get a nominal 2" leveling kit and either 33 or 35 12.5x17 wheels and tires.

Can anyone tell me what king of mpg i could expect with either of them? Also, I'm really trying to hunt down a manual transmission. Can anyone tell me if i can get away on stock gearing?

This is going to be my dd and i want something that isn't as ridiculous as my toy TJ (jeep) in mpg.

As far as mpg goes you mat get 15 to 20 mpg depending upon how you actually drive. A standard tranny will get better mileage than an automatic. Not real sure if they offered a stick with the Hemi though. I know in 2007 they did not.

thanks bud. yes they did offer a stick but theyre hard to come across with the hemi. will the stock gearing be decent enough for those larger tires? i think i mau go 315/70/17 so i cam get duractracs.

About the only thing you will have to do to be able to use the tires you want is either get a tuner and reprogram the speedometer, or get a shop to do it for you. I always recommend that people get a tuner themselves so they can set up a custom tune themselves. I use the Diablo for my truck and my wifes truck, and the intune for my soon to be daughters truck.

I think that mpg will be around 12- 13 city. That's what I used to get with my 2500 now I get a little better ever since I put a tune in it. I am looking to put bigger tires on my truck as well. A leveling kit wont hurt mpg I don't believe and 33in tire wont make a big difference and like mentioned you would need to adjust the speedometer. And yes the hemi does come in manual but they are hard to come by

Thanks guys. I think I mentioned this will be my DD. I don't want to deal with a lot of wearing out items - so i don't want to lift it a ton to create more extreme angle in the driveline, etc. all that type of stuff. This was my reasoning for hunting for a stock 2500 and just leveling it and slapping on some nice rims and tires.

however, in my hunt i came across this...

can any of you provide some insight on mpg with this setup or if at this height things will wear out constantly?

Looking over the ad you found I would ask him for some more pictures of the truck from several angles, including the underside. As far as a 6" lift goes that is mild. With that lift there should be few problems with excessive wear on driveline parts. I would ask for pictures of the lift kit though to make sure it was not done cheaply.
