Well, I am finding I am in need of a step stool or something to help me get into the bed of the truck with the tailgate down. At 40" high, it's a chore, especially jumping down. What are others using? The Mopar "Bed Step" is $500, thats pretty expensive for what it is.

I use the bedstep from bestop. I had one on my Gen4 truck too. It wasnt that much money, maybe around $300. Installs in about 20 minutes. Works great to get into the bed when the tailgate is open. But its a pain to get back down from the bed and hit that very small step with your foot while trying to step down. And I dont have my truck on bigger tires or lifts either.

I installed an Amp step and it works great. Easy install took about 15 minutes total.

Thanks all. I'll look at the Amp step.

I found a knock off strp on Amazon that looks identical to the one from the mopar accessories catalog but was half the price. It mounted perfectly exactly like the mopar part amd functions exactly the same. The only difference I can find is that the mopar part claims to have a 600# weight limit where the knockoff only claims 300#. I only weigh 180 so no problem

Update: this is a link to the one I have. The price has gone down since I bought it.

Beware because the parts are different for pre and post 2019, and they are different for 1500s and 2500s.

For the 2019+ 1500 DT new body stylr only, the acceptable part numbers are any of the following ; 82215289AG ; 82215289 ; 82215289AB ; 82215289AC ; 82215289AD ; 82215289AE; 82215289AF

On Amazon they average about $99 and on ebay about $89. At the Ram stealer the same part number is $435, really.

And here's the kicker, if you buy one of those part numbers on ebay or amazon, you will have bought the oem Mopar part! They are identical and the welds and paint are super high quality. It's one time in life you'll get almost free lunch!

Many of the ebay and amazon parts have the mopar number stamped on them. Some dont but still are most likely the oem part.
