I have a 46RE out of a 2000 Ram1500 4WD that I am rebuilding. My rebuild kit comes with extra clutches and steels so that I could rebuild the clutch packs with an extra clutch each. Only problem, the kit does not come with new machined top hats for this purpose (or any new top hats for that matter). My question is, can I stack two steels on top of each other for the top hats instead of a single thicker one? I have stacked them already and the clearances check out. I can't think of anything wrong with doing so but someone please let me know if I am wrong. Thanks!
