Looking for a 4th Gen Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Grille. Doesn't matter if it has chrome inserts or black honeycombs. Willing to pay up to about $200 maybe a little more if in great condition. Would consider partial trade of my chrome grille plus a bit of cash for a painted grille as well.

Send me a PM if interested. If anyone finds a grille for sale that might be of interest to me please let me know.

Thanks

Rock auto.com has primed grills for under $70. Not sure what it would cost to have it painted. But its a good option

Do you know if the oem insert fit into these grills?

Hmm I'll look into how much it would cost to get one painted to match. I can't see how it could be that much money, seems like it would be a simple piece to paint and if it's already primed that takes prep out of the picture.

If it's already prepped and primed my local body shop said they'd paint it to match my truck with clear coat for $100. That doesn't sound too shabby considering these grilles cost like $300 new from the stealerships.

Looking at the one on Rock Auto it looks as if that one does need prep. What would I need to do to prep it, pretty sure I could handle that myself.

not a bad price on the paint.

Prep, like most stuff, scuff with a scotchbrite.

Couldn't I just use some sandpaper? You're the paint master so wouldn't I just need to sand it down, wipe it off with alcohol, then primer it, and then sand again?

dude, I haven't painted in 14 months. Sourced that stuff out! LOL - he does much better than I ever could, and I can focus on what I enjoy. Playing with headlights. :D:D

I prefer scotchbright over sandpaper - as its not a "hard" edge. you can get into the grooves better. but yeah - whatever works best for ya!

Okay thanks for the tip! I think I'll just prep it myself since primer isn't expensive. I'll only pay something like $60 for the grille, then maybe $20 for materials, and $100 for paint. $180 is just about half the cost of a plain new one. Not too shabby!

Couple of questions though, which scotchbrite pads should I buy then, and where to find them?

I ended up ordering one on Ebay. I wanted the chrome inserts and if I bought the unpainted one off of rock auto I would've ended up with the black honeycombs. I didn't think $250 for a brand new one with chrome inserts and emblem included was too bad of a deal. Did find a guy on craigslist who was selling a brilliant black grille for $75. Absolutely refuses to ship it, says that it would cost too much. I saw the pics of it and I was like dude you could probably get at least $150 for that grille.
