Happy I was wrong, that is excellent news. Glad it was a relatively cheap fix.
i wont complain haha, much better than a t-case. it still baffles me on how that caused some of the issues. only thing i can think of is the canbus system running checks and balances and seeing an issue when shifting out of 4low.

appreciate all the advice and info!

I have the same truck, I use 4wd auto in town in winter if ice on the streets, most of the time, side streets are always icy.
But I don't think i have ever used low on this truck, flat land Sask. old guy, long retired.

I had a 2010 with the same set up, but the older auto.
Odd time I used 4 low, to pull small stumps ,etc in town, It was a issue getting back to Hi,
I found if you let it roll a little in N it helped, but I don't remember now what the book said on that setup.
I was thinking that as it is never used, everything could be stiff and stuck in the hi range.

Wonder if it may be a good thing to try using it once in a while?
I likely will not play with it.

We used to do a lot of traveling year around in the West to various work sites like mines. If we flew then we rented 4wd trucks of all kinds. Most of them were automatics with electronic shifting to engage 4wd. They are temperamental and require patience. They remind me of working with mules. You have to wait on them. Stepping on the brake and waiting 20 seconds is a great answer. The electronic systems need time to reset.

For decades I always had manual trans and manual hubs because they were dependable. The modern systems have gotten better. Remember to engage the automatic systems at various times during the year not just in winter and hunting season.
