4WD woes

I have a 2023 model ram 1500 with a three position four-wheel-drive system and the 5.7 engine. I only have 13,000 miles currently. After my four-wheel-drive system working fine for the past two winters, I ran into a problem after our first snow on November 30. None of the three positions, ( 4Auto, 4HI or 4Lo ) will engage. The small green lettering on the dash will continue to flash for approximately two minutes and then I receive a message on the EVIC saying service four-wheel-drive system.
After multiple tries, the exact same thing continued to happen. Has anyone else had a similar issue with their low mileage GEN five ram 1500??

Un hook the battery for a while let it all go dead and re connect see if a reset fixes your issue the 4x4 system on rams can be a pain in the ****. Or if your still under warranty just take it into the dealer and dont touch it.

Having the same issue this morning on my 2019 Laramie. Could it be because the temps have been in the teens for the past several days?

I am fortunate so far with my new to me RAM, and feel so sorry for the folks that have the Tech problems. What knocks me out is that it is a flashback to the old days when I was directed into computers at work. The answer to a glitch was frequently to remove the battery for 15 minutes. Maybe someone should make a Reboot switch to make things easier.

A hard reboot is still my answer to most electrical problems and still recommended by service techs for many issues for things like cable TV boxes, routers, etc. my stubborn old HP printer doesn’t like it much. When ever it gets balky I pull the plug on it and plug it back in after 10 seconds. When it restarts it gives me a message that I shouldn’t do that as I might damage the printer. I figure tough, if you’re not working, you’re not working. Suck it up or get replaced.

Are you driving while changing into those other positions? If the battery trick doesn’t work, try this in your driveway. After starting, press the brake, put in neutral, then try 4 high 1st. If it engages, drive ahead a few feet. Stop, try 4 lo the same way. If this works, get back in 2 wheel drive, get on a slick or dirt road, then engage 4 high to see if it’s working again. If it doesn’t work, take it to the dealer to get fixed.

Just went through the 4x4 issue on my 2019 laramie. It would not shift into any 4x4 configuration and unfortunately caused another issue I was unaware of! Took it in the my dealership where I personally know the mechanics and service writer and told them it would not go into 4x4 mode! Left the truck with them and two hrs they call and said the actuator on the front axel had froze up and was not locking the axel in. Unfortunately even though it never locked in the front axel the transfer case motor though it was and overheated burning the clutches. They had to replace the actuator on the axel and installed a new transfer case assembly and all is great. Got the truck back the second day from when I took it in. The actuator from MOPAR was $598.00 and Transfer case assy. Was 2600.00 . I am very happy that my dealership has a lifetime powertrain warranty for as long as I own the truck it is not limited to miles or year! My truck is now seven years old with over 83,000 miles and the repair cost me nothing "zero" . You might look at your actuator on the front axel and that could be your only issue.
