So for four months I have been battling this truck 1996 dodge ram 1500 5.2 automatic. I bought it with intermittent manufacturer code which I believe was the crank sensor. It died and a swap fixed the issue. Then about three months later same code came up. Changed the crank again and then realized the cam sensor harness was distorted. After remaking the harness from the cam sensor to fit the new harness I spliced in it was starting just barely. I ended up hardwiring the sensor and engine wires together for two weeks and then the truck wouldn't start at the gas pump. Since then I have put a new ignition coil,PCM,crank sensor,Iac valve, fuel pump,, and tried five different cam sensors along with three distributor assemblies. All are not giving me the ground signal from the distributor. Power at ignition coil during crank and I used a oscilloscope to test signal from crank sensor which is square. 5 v reference stays at 5 with some sensors and would short right out when plugging in. Then unplugging power returns. All of my tests are pointing to no cam event happening even though I'm just cycling through sensors, every one I can find with no ground event. Please help I bout this truck for 3000 and have only got 5000 miles on it and a bunch of new parts to no avail. Also new cap and rotor as well. Any help would be appreciated this is a nightmare and I've read so many forums with no final fix in sight!
