5.2 rebuild questions

Thinking about getting an engine rebuild kit for my 5.2l. Any suggestions for the kit? Also since I already will have the engine apart, I wanted to add a few things to give a little more power. I’m already probably gonna have to buy a PCM because I think the voltage regulator might be going bad. Alt and bat tested fine. Regulator is the only other thing I can think of causing the problem. It runs fine until the motor heats up the it starts surging and dies. So what are some things I can do to help performance during the rebuild. Ive never done a complete rebuild and just want to return it back to stock with just a few tweaks here and there. My friend suggested I just add a mid range cam, new intake and headers. Any more suggestions?

Yes, create engine. To be honest unless your building a special purpose engine it really isn't worth the hassle, machine work and cost of kit vs dropping an engine in that has a warranty.
Find you a Jasper engine or other well known engine rebuilder and pick up a short block, slap your heads and performace mods on them. Then buy you an SCT and call it a day! =)

thanks for the reply. I've been looking into just getting a new engine and possibly remanufacted 360. Just want a little more power and my current engine is starting to get tired and is starting to nickel and dime me. It just has too much sentimental value to get rid of lol
