My piston sleeve dropped a little so I’m wondering what would be the best choice. To rebuild the engine from lifter piston heads cam shaft gaskets timing chain. Or should I just try an get a used or complete rebuilt engine an what years can I put in a 2014 ram 1500 express classic

There are a lot of threads on this forum about rebuilding engines as well as buying used or remanufactured engines. I recommend doing a search and reading through those. You will get some good information and can maybe connect with people who have had to make similar decisions.

Good luck.

?
Your piston sleeve dropped ?
Could you please explain how you made this decision?
Do you have pictures to share with the forum ? They might be of interest to some.
How many miles on the engine ?
How many on truck ?
How long ago was the engine rebuilt, or was it just one cylinder that needed sleeved ?

The mechanic said it was just the one that slipped down a little. On the bank 2 side. I do not have pictures currently but I can probably get some. I bought the truck used it currently has 172,000 miles on it. I am going to be calling him today and making sure that he has the proper tools to do the work an the engine is the original engine and I don’t know what the prior owner did with the truck. Do have the carfax on it though an it is just one cylinder that needs it.
